Changed from Auto to GTF, and yet need to use "Customized setting" to set to 2560 x 1440.
The IQ does look super sharp, but I felt I'm "forcing" the monitor to go to that res. so I switched back to 2048 x 1152.
Also changed to another HDMI cable, does not help. -> Is there anywhere to test the cable, which version it is?

Actually I do agree that if it works for you, just stick to it bro. If you read the below review, they have the sort of the same problem.

Dell U2515H Review - TFT Central

I feel it should be fine since that is the monitor's native resolution, and is not gonna overwork the monitor. ;)

Dude... over DVI-D to DVI-D, not DVI-D to HDMI... Most QHD monitors only support QHD over their DVI-D or DP inputs. E.g. the U2713HM supports 1440p only over the DP and DVI-D inputs but the U2713H supports 1440p over the HDMI inputs. Even then, you need to consider if the graphics card supports 1440p over the HDMI output

Forcing a resolution is not rape.

Use it or get a newer gfx card that supports display port.

Your monitor is meant to work at 2560x1440. You're not forcing it in any way.

Yah agree with bro Phelan. Don't quite understand why you wanna try another cable when you've already found the solution?

I also lol'ed at the 'forcing' comment :s13:

@TS, I wonder if it's got to do with the fact that the Palit is a pretty old card. Maybe 4-5 years since it was released? Maybe it's not a surprise that it doesn't plug and play well with a new monitor without some tweaking of the settings? If you managed to get your monitor to display 4K, then yeah, most here will agree you managed to 'force' it to do something it wasn't designed to do.

These are the cables tested.. I need to create custom resolution for all of them as they do not auto-detect QHD..

But strangely some one said to use DVI-D, but mine DVI-D does not auto-detect QHD as well ....

First of all, please don't confused Dual-Link DVI with DVI-D, the latter is DVI-Digital, could be Single Link or Dual Link Digital output, not necessary must be Dual-Link DVI.

Your Palit GTX460 support Maximum Digital Resolution 2560x1600 hence should not be a problem for 2560x1440 if using the correct port and cable.

You need to use DVI cable with all the 24 pins populated (middle row, right side of the port), if you're using DVI cable with some pins missing at the center, those are not dual-link DVI cable. I can't tell for sure the cables you tried are Single or Dual-Link DVI, but looking at the outer diameter of the cable, it seem to be too thin to be Dual-Link cable which are usually comes with bigger diameter due to more pins connection required.

The DVI connector here look like DVI-I Dual-Link, but again, seem too small a diameter to be true Dual-Link DVI-Integrated. I could be wrong, you need to find a true Dual-Link DVI cable to test it, usually much bigger in diameter compared to what you're using now.
