Background:
Moneyowl recently launched a Bionic (Robo + Human Advisory) platform providing funds by DFA. It aims to provide low cost, globally diversified portfolio to consumers.

StashAway is an intelligent wealth management platform that's designed to build and protect wealth by investing in low cost ETFs

Experiment Outline
Contribute $100 SGD into moneyowl (growth portfolio) and Stashaway portfolio 22 on a monthly basis (every 15th).

1) Moneyowl = Growth Portfolio (80% Equity/ 20% Bond)
- Dimensional Global Core Equity Acc SGD (70.8%)
- Dimensional Emerging Markets Large Cap Core Equity Acc SGD (9.2%)
- Dimensional Global Short Fixed Income Acc SGD-H (20%)

2) Stashaway = General Portfolio 22 (99% VAR = 22%)

** This is not really an apple to apple comparison but it is nevertheless a good point to start with

Will be updating this thread on the performance on a periodic basis. Stay Tuned

** Investment temporarily stopped due to some issues with transfer. Will still update cash value and regular monthly top up will resume soon

In April both were in the red, SA has a better bounce back.

Actually it will be better if TS just leave $100 in it and not add any amount to see the actual yield.

Example the first deposit of $150 was on 15th May, how much did the amount made itself half year later? This can't be read from the numbers.

That's precisely why time weighted returns exists, and are reported by virtually every robo...

However, since both platforms receive same cash injection on the same days by the TS, then can just compare absolute returns, and don't really need to worry about percentages since they are directly comparable.

That's not entirely accurate still because there are still FX fees and platform fees that are not accounted for in current Nav.

Will fx fees and commission fees widen the gap between the two? If 2 performance is same including all the fees, then its a better comparison right?

Nope. I wish it's that simple. Over long term we technically should be able to tell? But over short term do you try to compare investment performance with your kakis? The friend with higher returns = more satki?
Lower returns means cui?

Timing plays a part, risk plays a part, over/under allocation in equities plays a part, luck plays a part. Taken to extreme, might as well follow etoro most profitable traders for higher returns if we believe past performance is indicative of future returns. It's not. It's a waste of time and a poor basis for decision making. Just my personal view.

Hi all. I will no longer be continuing this project due to some constraints. Hope this thread has provided you with sufficient information on the methodologies of the different robos
