Considering getting one.

Come share your experience with it and where/how much you got it for. Locally only seems to have one model available. Hoping to get Scooba 380 instead since it seems to be able to cover my whole flat (4 rm) in one charge.

Please no flaming in this thread.

Seems like the 380 is one of the latest in the line of Scooba and can cover a bigger area than either the 5900 or 5800. I may be getting one in the future. Presently has just bidded for a Roomba 4130 on ebay and will be using it before deciding whether to get the Scooba.

Also the flooring you have....I think it is quite wet after it passes thru so maybe laminate flooring not very good?

i am also quite interested to get a wet + dry roomba, so that can auto-mop the sticky floor everyday~

was wonder how much does sg sells~?

http://store.irobot.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=2174932&cp=2174940

iRobot® Scooba® 380 Floor Washing Robot
was: $499.99
now: $449.99

Well that is USD, so convert at 1.52 + 10% shipping works out to be ~$750. Too bad vpost cannot shipped across since locally the blood sucking distributor is selling $1200 for 5800.

Confirm Vpost can ship over. There are quite a number of people using Vpost to bring in their Roomba and Scooba. My Roomba just arrived yesterday. Very fast shipping by UPS. Order and paid on the 1 Jun, received on 4 Jun. Will try over the weekend.

Model is 4130. Paid US$134 plus US$50 shipping. If order from US, most likely to be 110V. Mine is. I bought a Newstart 100W stepup transformer from Sim Lim Tower for S$22.

Reason I did not use Vpost is because the Ebay seller I bought from will ship direct. Apparently, she has only a few units for sale. However, you can find similar units on Ebay at roughly the same price.

A word of advice for those getting from Ebay, check out the prices before bidding and also check to see if the item is new, remanufactured or used. The seller i bought from has both new and used. Mine was a new model. When I did a search on prices for the same item from the same seller, I found a huge discrepencies in prices. There were people buying it at over US$200! and others bidding US$150 for a used one!

May get a Scooba in the future if this Roomba works out. As IRobot is phasing in the new models Scooba 350 and 380, it is likely that the 5800 and 5900 values will drop.

Im also thinking of getting a scheduler and scooba. My fren bought a roomba from gkrobots.com and
i heard he's quite happy with their service and he's getting a scheduler from them. The thing is they provide warranty so don't have to concerned about
Dead unit when it arrives from US.

Anyone has experience

I meant does anyone has experience with scooba on marble flooring? my flooring is all marble.

but buying directly from www.irobot.com still seems to be a tad cheaper with all the shipping included.
if i buy direct, is the power adapter multi-voltage?

or do I need a step-up transformer~?

is this thing noisy? can it really clean up a whole hdb flat without much human intervention? will the robot keep cleaning the same place over and over (not efficient)?

Since I am a recent Roomba owner, will try to answer the questions posted here.

Firstly, if unit is direct from the States, hen it is using 110v. We are using 220V and therefore need a transformer or adapter for charging. Best to get at least 80W transformer. For me I am using a 100W stepdown transformer purchased from Sim Lim Tower 3rd floor for $21.

The unit itself when running is noisy but not extremely so. So it will be quite difficult watching TV while it is cleaning.

Depending on how big is your house and the orientation, it might be possible to clean your entire house in a single run.
I am staying in an Executive HDB unit and I normally run it to clean the kitchen and hall in one pass and rooms in the next.

When you do the first few runs, it is better to monitor it. In my case it got stuck under one of the cabinets. After that, you can actually switch it on just before you go to work and come back to find your floors clean.

Yes, the roomba will clean over the same are twice or even three times. It is not so intelligent to know that it has already clean that area, Eg in my case I will allow it to run for 1 1/2 hour to do its single run.
