Thanks bro. But Its kind of difficult to work in an all Taiwanese environment with no friends/ Singaporean, and its even harder to find jobs..And I checked with her that there are not alot of company willing to employ a foreigner, and not alot of jobs available for my area of studies ( events ). Hence I am sort of pleading out to any bro who is residing in Taiwan, that if their company got any opening, I am willing to enter. I will be more than happy to pick up new skills and learn along the way... As it is really difficult for me to get a job without any recommendations etc there.

Thank you

situation kinda similar to you but just that i am in the IT line , searching and looking for a job to be based there or working in taiwan. So far still no lobangs :(

diploma holder in IT here... 25 yr old.

Hi bro your situation a bit tricky

1. There are a lot of companies who are willing to hire foreigners. Especially Singaporean as they are bilingual in Chinese and English. Unless you are looking for expat terms ie. big pay with car and houses etc, then sorry look elsewhere otherwise u are consider a local hire which make no difference to them.

2. The next question is if they could hire foreigners. The company need to meet certain criterias before they can hire foreigners. So forget about small company or startup.

3. Event related are usually smaller companies and even those big advertising companies, they are dealing with local market and not overseas market, this is your biggest disadvantage. Unless you look for regional pr related job.

4. Wife to be. So I assumed you are yet to marry. After you are married you can get your wife to apply for residential status for you then you will not have issues in point 2. But even if you get a job in event companies you are dealing with local market so make sure your traditional Chinese is damn strong

Bro if you are in IT Sales then it should be easy as many medium IT companies employed foreigners for their overseas business. But like I mention in my earlier be prepared to accept local terms. The minimum salary for white collar foreigners is 48000nt

Can look at www.104.com.tw

Hi bro, thanks for your reply. I am not looking for expat pay etc, I am willing to settle for any amount, as long as I can work there. It is because I really want to spend my time there with her, rather than flying around every few months.

Bro, may I ask, if you know any companies that are employing? I don't mind any field of work, or pay- as long as it is sustainable.

Thank you

Which industry were you in previously and in what field?

I understand you are in event, but there are alot of different kind of event, like wedding, roadshow, PR campaign etc etc. And are you sales, planner, Project Manager etc?

Bro sorry for the late reply. I used to do events - planning and coordinating - bigger shows include IT/ PC show for a telecommunications company. I am also involve in F1 Singapore as a coordinator for a sponsor.

Currently I am dealing more on Roadshow, doing things like forecasting and projecting KPI. And I have a handful of promoters in my charge to do sales to generate leads and of course achieving KPI.

I can say I am a sales and marketing person. My current job require me to plan, execute and coordinate roadshows, and to push sales for my promoters at the same time ( which also include identifying prominent locations, site visit etc )

Bro, like I mentioned earlier, I am willing to settle for any jobs, which is able to pay me the minimum. Of course I will be interested to go into marketing and business area if I have a chance. I am also interested to reach English, but unfortunately, i don't hold a TEFL.

Thank you for your reply.

If you have a Caucasian accent, you can teach in a bushiban which pays really well in Taiwan. Otherwise I don't think theyd hire you regardless of your qualifications.

Taiwan is a great place, all the best.

Actually it does not work that way. For them to apply a teacher permit for u, u need to be from a country where English is the native language. Unfortunately Singapore is NOT consider as a native speaking country. I know I know. It may be our 1st language but that's how they classified.

Unless you go to those small "not so license" center where they employ you on social visit pass. But that mean TS need to o back every few months which defeate the point

As mentioned in my previous post you cannot teach as teaching is another permit and u need to be native. And trust me if you go to not so good school the terms aren't that good

Based on what I know, it is hard for u to do event in Taiwan. Most event companies their PM and sales are the same person and unless you have customers db they may not be too interested. Even if they are, they pay will be minimum as u will be based on commission. In that case your permit will not be approve. They usually have partners overseas so they don't really have regional role

For IT sectors, who employed most foreigner, you don't have industry experience.

So I can only give you a few ideas to try

1. If financial permits, you can study here. Student permit is easy. Then at the end of the study, find a job and convert student permit to work permits. I have a lot of foreigners who o thru this route.

2. Go to 104.com.tw and apply or any jobs possible. Look for international sales where u have greater chance. Plan all interviews in 1-2 weeks and fly to Taiwan for interview

3rd option I will PM u

Haha thanks bro for your advice... Choice 1) I am not rich... Hence studying is out of the options... Need to settle down and get a job...

2) I tried to go that webby already, but not alot of options there too... I am looking at other recruitments sites... Any head hunting or recruitment agency u can recommend that I can send my CV to and then rely on them to help me source for more jobs?

And 3) I am still waiting for your pm.... Hopes it works.. ( I might have a slight idea what u have in mind, bro ... Haha)

Thanks alot once again!

PM send and it is not what you think, if you think what I am thinking.

For the recruitment site 104 is by far the best and most foreigner friendly. I am sure i do not need to tell you that job hunting is a number game, the more u send the better yr chance

I would not recommend the headhunter here. Unless for top jobs, the middle level ones are not that professional

Kao. No engineering sio.. How abt their electronics n aerospace industry over there?

Yo! I'm a Singaporean in engineering line working in Taiwan but of course, most engineering jobs are located in Hsinchu. I used to work in Hsinchu but not anymore. Of course, fresh grads are as mentioned lowly paid, but your pay depends on experience and relevance too. With experience, getting paid more than $100k NT is not a problem. Also, many companies in the electronics sector go listed on the stock exchange and depending on company, you will be eligible to get their stocks too!
