casing seems to have bad airflow

the specs for both Aftershock rigs are quite decent for the price although I would caution that the pics of both rigs do NOT show what the buyer would get

Normally I would advise to stop comparing prices after you have bought it. It won't get you anything other than feeling sour coa u didn't get the best deal

Personally I always recommend DIY because the idea of DIY is to put together parts of best deals and likewise with re-usability.

I had a casing I used for more than 15 years before replacing.
PSU 10 years and still running.
Sata MLC SSD 7 years and still kicking

It is the longevity of the parts that provide value

Aftershock use some cheapo parts, particularly the brandless ram and drive. The psu confirm is low quality psu. Casing hard to judge but good casing can reuse over and over again. That asus mb has bad vrm despite its retail value, questionable re-usability for Ryzen 4000 (if amd ever support it for B450).

It's stated in their web that they use KLEVV, Kingston, Corsair, Apacer and Crucial ram. As for PSU it's either FSP/EVGA although the exact model is not specified

That's where they took their ram from but it isn't branded as such. It is branded as "Aftershock", not gonna have lifetime warranty like the retail ram. You can go carousell and look around, I am sure you can find aftershock ram.

PSU naturally those low quality model.

Aftershock get their components in bulk aka oem, just like all companies, since it come in bulk thus it is cheap but as cheap as they want to be, they need be competitive to retail pricing while having profit margin. Since it is oem, your warranty will be limited and likewise the supports will be limited, subject to aftershock tos.

That basically the difference between OEM and Retail.

That's sth new I didn't know.
However ram doesn't usually die unless it comes DOA. I can't say much about their PSU since the exact model is not specified.

I would still argue that Aftershock provides good value for those that prefer the convenience of a pre-built system and having on-site warranty support (1st year). I suspect even if u source the parts from different places the savings wouldn't be that much of a difference
