$1.4k overclock rig?

hi guys, i'm trying to help my friend source for a solid build and he wants to be able to overclock in the future. budget $1.4k, without monitor and peripherals, need os.

playing games like overwatch bf1, basically AAA titles. he has already bought a 1060, so 1.4k without gfx as well. what would be the best option?

Haiz why buy GTX 1060 beforehand? Now the weakest link will be this graphics card. Could have gotten GTX 1070 with $1700 if never bought the card.

The 1060 cannot sli too. Seems like a waste on a z mobo.

The 1060 cannot sli too. Seems like a waste on a z mobo.

1060 can OC but overclockers will not choose such a mid range card to do it.

At least a 1070.

Ask him stick to non OC build, save on budget first. I5 6500 can liao

i think can la. but whether it's worth it or anot is subjective. would be nice if he could sell it off and cut losses and get that 1070. that is if he die die want to overclock.

Get a non K version CPU, that would be the i5-6500 I mentioned, minimum is 6500, don't need the CPU cooler as well. All this is assuming he drop his OC idea lah

build depends on what he is after.
u can even go with a h110 if u super budget.

it depends on what your friend really wants.
