Wanna do some minor upgrade for my GF . With maybe $400 budget .
like ram to 8 GB . is it ddr2 only for this motherboard ?
Maybe change away the internal fans . like quite noisy
GPU to better spec . any recommendation to suit the mother board ? gaming and see HD videos

Current GF PC Is

MB - ASUS P5KPL-AM P5KPL-AM - Motherboards - ASUS
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.66 GHz
Ram - 4 GB
GPU - Gainward 9800 GT 512 MB GDDR3
PSU - Unknown cause never open up the cpu
OS - Win 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
Monitor - Prolink ( Don't know what model )

Wanna do up a PC to play game for myself
budget maybe about $1500 - $1700
no need mouse , KB ,
Monitor plan to use back my old Dell E228WFP . possible ?
Need OS (Win 7 ) , HDD , SSD , DVD ROM ,
No Over-Clocking i don't know how to haha

Wanna check if I7 Really better over I5 if play BF3 or BF4 in 32vs32 maps
or just get I5 and save the money for a better GPU ?
prefer a casing which can have good air flow and dust filters cause my room no A/C

Your gf rig so old liaoz. Lol. Throw in a 7850 for her loh. What she using for anyway?

And yes. DDR2 for her.

i7 has very slight difference to i5 in gaming. Just most prob a few fps difference. No point. Throw the money into a better gpu.

Not on desktop, so I let others recommend rig for u. Lol.

U need to state if u need OS, HDD, DVD rom or not. Are you carrying stuffs over from ur old rig? Doing OC?

By the looks of it the Dell E228WFP needs to let go. Max Resolution not even 1080P.

For 1.7k

MSI B85M-G43 + i5-4570 ~ $356
Gskills Ripjaws 2x4gb Kit 1600mhz cl9 ~ $95
WD 1tb Blue ~ $81
Plextor M5P 128gb ~ $149
MSI GTX760 2gb Twin Frozr ~ $400
Seasonic M12ii 620W ~ $118
Windows 8 Home 64bit OEM ~ $120
Fractal Design Mini ~ $129
LG IPS234 23inch monitor ~ $248

Total cost ~ $1696 List Price. Bargain to get lower. Build at Tradepac.

For you GF coms.
I dont think is advisable to upgrade any further for the ram. For your GF com the only thing can upgrade is the gfx card. But might be bottleneck. Best is get an ivy setup for her drop to i3. Since she is only doing casual gaming and also watching HD movies. And you might wanna up your budget slightly higher to $450

Asrock B75m-dgs + i3-3220 ~ $211
Kingston Value Ram 4gb ~ $45
Powercolor HD7750 1gb GDDR5 ~ $122
Sharkoon T5 ~ $68

Reuse the HDD, PSU, OS, ODD.

Total $446 Can bargain lower from Tradepac.

After seeing here and there and contact with fotran
Maybe postpone my GF upgrade haha .
Stretch my budget abit

MOBO / CPU - ASROCK B85M PRO-4 i5-4570
RAM - G-SKILL RIPJAWX 8GB 1600
GPU - MSI GTX760 HAWK 2GB or GIGABYTE GTX770 WINDFORCE
SSD - PLEXTOR M5S 128 GB
HDD - WD 1TB BLUE
OD - SAMSUNG 24X DVDRW
PSU - SEASONIC M12 620W
OS - WIN 7 HOME PREMIUM 64BIT
CASE - Fractal Midi R2 like OOS ,

Any recommendation for casing . Want something with good airflow . I shortlist CM 690iii as the next good choice . but SG come side window version instead of the side panel which can mount a 200mm fan

Thinking of adding Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler
http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=34&lng=en

thinking want to add another 128 SSD or not . just to install game like steam in it .

760 looks nice . 770 looks more nicer . Generally 760 is good for most game in high setting ?

Thinking of doing 16GB ram . good ?

Don't get the NH-D14. Too overkill. Just get something like a Xigmatek Gaia would do.

For that price, I'd rather recommend the MSI R7970 Lightning Boost Edition (aka GHz Edition) @ $620, and it includes 3 free games

The R7970 GE still is able to hold its own against the GTX770 and GTX680

BF3 and other games cost less than $10 total in the recent humble bundle :s22: Anyway, BF4 is one of the games with the bundle when it's released if I'm not wrong. Why still play BF3.

IIRC, Linus mentioned about the NeverSettle Forever thing about buyers being able to hold out the free games to later period if they already have the game/not interested in the current range or something along the lines of that in anticipation of newer titles (a' la BF4)

Noctua.at - sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria"!

Overkill if you go with Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler and 16GB ram.

At 1080p gaming resolution, GTX 760 should be able to handle most games at high settings smoothly.
