Why don't we stop recommending EOL parts. Wait for clearance sale then recommend. If not, i feel the noobs here like kena carrot, is like paying full price for obsolete products.
If the buying stops... the agents/retailers will have to make the price more attractive for people to buy.
The price have taken a dip the very beginning since haswell released. The pricelist at that point of time is still on a high side. Now at $271, before was at $325, so I would say its still a good value for money considering the fact that 3470/3350p is still a very strong processor.
Is not like the new haswell or new board will give much of a performance difference in terms of just gaming.
Given the fact that ts has a tight budget of 1.5k with a monitor. I strongly recommend a basic mobo with a last gen CPU. If one has a tight budget and most of the money is chaneled to just mobo +cpu rather than a gpu then it is pointless as the real performer comes from gpu itself not from a board and cpu. Unless ts don't mind spending the rest of his budget on a board and CPU and sacrificing on GPU budget.
I know where you coming from. And I understand your views. But I have my point and you have yours. But ultimately it is more important on what ts has and what ts wants.
