Hey friendly HWZ-ian,

im looking to build a gaming rig for +-1500 , mainly for playing dota2 and csgo but will also play new games like blackops 3 and arkham.
mouse and kb not needed but i will need wifi and monitor
is it possible to get a 120hz or 144hz monitor with this budget?

Building for someone else or changing your PC in your profile >>> ?

getting for myself, i guess if 1.5k is too little i can save on ssd and use my old one since im giving my old rig to my dad since his old xp comp is almost dead

edit: my profile didnt show ssd, iirc my ssd is intel 330 128gb

Why not build a new cheap PC for your father while reusing some of the parts you have? Current processor isn't much faster than what you have currently. You can pass him your GPU, SSD while getting new one for yourself. :D

Ah i see... Cos you can consider to get a low end LGA 1155 CPU (i.e. Celeron G1610) with any B75/H77 combo left around in SLS and cross swap the CPU around just like what i've did for myself at home, swapping around my Core i5 with ASUS H67 to ASRock B75 for myself and Celeron G1610 with ASRock B75 to ASUS H67 for my mum. The downside is limited availability in the future as Ivy Bridge stocks depletes further. Good side will be generating more fundings for better monitor and graphics card. :D

good idea actually. cause I havent been updating myself with all this nowadays so im actually quite lost. good to hear that my processor actually is still pretty fast compare to newer ones. what kind of parts will you recommend me to get for my dad? so i should slot my ssd and gpu to his comp and upgrade my own?

recently i have some trouble with my monitor where sometimes when i turn my comp on my monitor dont have signal but i can hear the windows sound from my speaker... havent had time to troubleshoot it yet but i think reseting cmos might solve the issue

Try using your onboard video. Could be issue with your HD 7850.

Just to confirm you die die have to buy everything from one place in order for your dad to get his claim back right?

but the issue rarely appear so i have no way of troubleshooting it... but i think my gpu is stil working fine since there is no issue when im gaming or rather there is no problem when the comp is already running. the monitor issue only happens when i just boot up my comp

yes.. but i guess monitor and cpu can from diff place
