when are you going? I have book a cab driver to take 3 of us to see :
Morning Tour to Lopburi to see Sunflowers
Afternoon Return Bangkok for City and Temple Tour
After Dinner watch Calypso show.

If I am not wrong Lopburi is near Ayutthaya...you want to see the Sunflowers instead...?

Sunflowers season starts Nov- Feb each year.
Hope not raining in BKK...:D

Its about 3 hours drive to Lopburi, then additional time needed to locate the sunflower field. As such I would not suggest merging Lopburi with Ayutthaya as Ayutthaya is another one whole day affair. :)

What I had done 3 years ago alone was took the early morning train from Hua Lamphong to Ayutthaya. Took the 3rd class no aircon train at 20 bahts iirc :s13:

Reached Ayu around 11 then hired a tuk tuk to bring me around. After visiting 4 sites plus lunch in between, requested the tuk tuk to send me to the boarding point of the mini bus back to Victory Monument. By 5pm I was back in BKK.

How much is the tuk tuk hiring? Does they speak english?

The official price fixed by TAT then was 200 baht per hour, need check is there any changes now or not. Nonetheless you may use that as a guide for the pricing. For my case since I arrived only 11pm which was sort of quite late and thus I was able to bargain till 100 baht an hour.

Tuk tuk driver spoke simple English and they have a booklet or photo album showing all the places of attraction. You just need to tell them which you want to go. Everything free and easy, once reached a particular temple ruin, they will wait for you outside while you OTOT.
