but being a guardsman still have to go thru gcc and also do additional things like helicopters rappelling

Guards Officers Conversion Course for officers and Guards Specialist Conversion Course for Specialists. The enlisted men go through the Guards Advanced Infantry Training (GAIT) to earn their mark as Guardsmen

Guards conversion is not like in the past anymore. The good old days when I was still under ex-CO Colonel Nelson Yeo, S3 Lee, RSM Kannan and 3 Guards CO Tan Chuan-Jin (Current MP).

I don't know if the current conversion is the same as my time. We have to do 10K run, 2K coastal swim, Heli rappelling, 5 Day outfield and Guards Assault Course.

Training under these higher flyers were tough and 1 Guards was the best combat unit that time. Not as saki as the Commandos but we were still proud to achieve the guards tag.

Yes proud to be a Guardsman. You will have to go through GAIT, not as tough compared to GCC so don't worry. Heli-rappelling and coastal swim are fun stuffs, but not for the 12km fast march.

To me every generation of Guards faces different challenges no need to compare the past.

Also Guards is Guards Commandos is Commandos different role different training as long as we get the job done all are saki.

no confinement

overseas yes, for sure Brunei is in, just before you hit your 2nd year

the 2nd one will be either Australia or Taiwan, 3 Guards is going to Taiwan this weekend before they stand down and wait for ORD. or there can be no 2nd overseas exercise too, it depends. local atec

Training is progressive, especially for the fast march component of GAIT..

tell you a tip, go ask your storeman if got indent for sat breakfast or not, then you will know the answer. cause usually 1 guards cookhouse is closed on weekends, usually will have a van that will deliver food to HQ for COS to collect, so cannot anyhow suka keep people behind, if not complain

no such thing as indent from NTUC FF(3 guards cookhouse) or else not telly

i think at most ask you book out later by 2hrs? during that extra time ask you do RT

That depends on individual company but most likely yes. First year soldier don't expect much for nights out.
