1 SSD (OS installed) for Multiple PC/Laptop

Does it work?

Installed Windows 8 (retail version) and licenced video editing software to a 240GB SSD for my home Desktop. Usually, will copy the videos files (about 50GB) I want to edit to the 240GB SSD from my 2TB HDD, edit the videos, and back up to the same 2TB HDD again.

Was wondering if I can remove this SSD and install to another Desktop (in-law's house) and do the editing on the that PC. Will be staying at in-law's house for the next few days (they going holiday).

Dun want to bring my Desktop to their house. Both Desktop are different brand but spec is comparable.

I only know that I need to press F12 to go into the boot menu to select Boot up drive during start up.

mine can work leh... but run into some driver conflicts cause my driver for the 2 coms diff

might need to activate again esp if the hardware is very different (eg. diff mobo brand, proc, etc)...

will work, just need to install all the required drivers for the other pc. though i think when everytime you switch between the pcs you will have to install the drivers again, though windows will prolly search for the already available drivrs on the disk and reinstall them.
its best if both your PC are using the same brand CPU ie. AMD or Intel.
Not saying amd -> intel will not work but it will be more troublesome to get past the BSOD that usually shows when trying to switch between the two.
For intel -> intel system it is usually a breeze after you configure the drivers for the first time, assuming the specs of both coms are not years/generations apart

I know because i've done this many times. I've switched from a Pentium 4 Win 7 installation to a AMD system, then to an i5 system, and back to my current config (AMD). Until now i have always used the same windows installation since 2008.

You mean activate windows?

yes activate windows... but if your windows is a brand specific (as with all those which are bought with a branded PC), then it won't work... must switch to a OEM licence or a retail licence first...

Really? Better to partition? 1 for pc1 and another for pc2?
Anyway, could not setup on time. Already at my my in-law place.
But will still want to try it out.
