hi guys, am going to Tokyo during the Sakura period during late March to early April. Will be staying 10 days. As we have kids, we plan to spend 2 days at Disneyland land and sea and perhaps 1 day at Hakone to see Mt Fuji. Perhaps another 2 days watching the sakura at various locations. What do you all propose to do for the next 5 days? Stay in Tokyo or venture out to other places? Thanks in advance.

Better view of the mountain at Fuji Five Lakes than Hakone, though there's more things to see around Hakone. Most accessible lake is Kawaguchiko. Via train from Shinjuku or bus from Shinjuku Bus Terminal.

You can consider Ueno Zoo to see the panda cub Xiang Xiang and head over to Ueno Park for hanami.

Yokohama Hakkejima Sea Paradise? Can be a full day trip and move over to Yokohama Bay in the evening.

You can venture out as well as staying:

1. Harajuku (slow walk manageable even with kids)

2. Sensoji + Tokyo Sky Tree
- May want to take a train to SkyTree Station as the walk is quite far (i ke-kiang and walked and it was like never ending although you can see the building in front!!). SkyTree town has quite a lot for kids to play and see.

3. Yokohama

4. If your kids are not too young: Mount Takao.
- Went there alone in October and absolutely enjoyed it
- Saw a lot of kids as well as very old people there so it is manageable.

I think others have recommended this, but the Zoo is definitely a stop to make if you have kids.

If it is your first time going, or first time going with your kids, then you should stay in Tokyo, there are plenty of things to do in Tokyo, and perhaps when your kids grow older, you can head back, and explore the outlying regions...

If you have 10 days, you can easily spend 1 day in Yokohama (cosmo world, cup noodle museum, ramen museum) and 1 day in Kamakura (giant buddha, temples, enoshima). Note that 1 day is usually not enough for these 2 places but it's still a nice trip from Tokyo.
