100% Hard Disk Usage Help

MSI GL62 7QF.

Been using this laptop for a year or so and having this issue for slightly more than half a year. Can't take it anymore, so im seeking help

Specs as follow:

Hard-Drive in-depth:

From the moment my laptop boots, the disk hits 100%. The tasks are things like System, Symantec Service Framework, and many different service hosts such as superfetch. (I've disabled those that i can to no avail.)

I suspect its my HDD issue or maybe because my laptop does not have a SSD in it. Would getting a SSD with high read write speed fix this issue? or is there something more?

Standard troubleshooting found on g00gle have been done.
- Disabling various services.
- Using CMD to check for bad sectors / fix it using some commands.
- Full system scan
- Clean format.

If your hard drive don't hit 100%, I worry for you lol

If you hard drive hit 100% while doing nothing, chances are windows update doing stuff behind the scene, you got other stuff you don't know running at the background, or you got malware/virus.

Change to SSD lar. Hdd is bottlenecking the system overall performance

the 100% disk usage is damn cancerous eh. like i can't open anything. Clicking on chrome cause my com to freeze and even after it loads it takes a good 5-10mins before the new tab page is loaded.

Typing has delays cause it freezes up the screen and it only calms down after i end task on every single system service i can end. no windows update.

Of coz the HDD will hit 100% to load Windows. What do you want it to do? Hit only 50% load on the HDD and take even longer to load Windows? SSD will definitely reduce your boot up time but the load on the SSD will also hit 100%.

sorry if i didnt typed it as clearly. what i meant was during post-bootup and normal operations with only chrome and all, the 100% disk usage still persists making my softwares and such run super slowly.

Probably your symantec is doing background scan all the time. Can uninstall it or disable frequent scanning and see how it goes

Open task manager and see what is the cause? If unimportant stuff like anti virus or unknown software, just uninstall it.

Don't use any idiotic anti virus. Be aware what you click and use windows defender is enough. Don't visit prawn/suspicious site. Use adblocker for chrome/whatever web surfing software.

When is the last time you really do serious housekeeping.

HDD may required to do defragmentation from time to time and including chkdsk & other maintenance.

And there may have too much temp files that may slow down the process in the HDD.

Go to task manager and check under disk usage which program is using 100% usage. If it's a program like Symantec virus scan just delete the anti virus or disable it the scan totally. Or use another anti virus. Not a fan of Symantec anti virus. I don't use any anti virus software and I find the windows defender good enough.

If it's other programs or task taking up 100% disk just disable it totally.

Ok just saw it's Symantec service. I suggest you just uninstall and remove Symantec totally. Use another anti virus or just use the windows defender good enough.

Your Norton 360 is really scanning something......Maybe uninstall it and then download and reinstall again.
