1080P60 Build

Hi everyone,

I would like to get a PC to pair with my Dell SE2719H, which is a 1920x1080 60Hz Monitor. I've never built a PC before so I thought I would reach out to a builder to get a proposal to save the hassle. The builder comes highly recommended and suggested the following build for SGD 1,215.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Processor
ASRock B450M Steel Legend Motherboard
ADATA XPG SPECTRIX D41 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200 RAM
Zotac GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB Graphics Card
Crucial MX500 1TB SSD
Superflower Leadex III 650W Gold PSU
Tecware Nexus M Casing

I had a few questions about the above:

• It seems pretty affordable the overall price is similar to Dynacore or Fuwell's price list. Am I missing something here?
• How is the ASRock B450M Steel Legend Motherboard? Reviews seem to be fairly positive, but is there a better B450M Motherboard that is similarly priced?
• Anyone heard of ADATA XPG before? Is it any good, or should I ask for Corsair RAM?
• People have suggested a GTX 2060, but I feel it might be overkill for 1080p60. What do you think?
• Is a gold PSU overkill for the above build?
• I would like to reduce the RGB effects as much as possible, should I be swapping out the Motherboard or RAM?
• What else can be done to make the build better? I would also prefer if I can go to below SGD 1,100 but that doesn't seem possible at the moment.

imho, if you are looking to reduce RGB effects, you can change your RAM.

for PSU, it's considered quite important, dont save money on it... Gold is ok.

Other than SSD for your Windows OS, you thought of getting another HDD(e.g 2TB) to store your files?

Assume that DVD drive not needed....

If you not that particular on sound and using normal speakers, you can stay with onboard sound...

Thanks for your advice. I don't think I need a HDD for now if I'm getting a 1 TB SSD,but may get it in future.

Will still recommend you get a HDD to store/backup files. While SSD have been generally reliable currently, any failures means it would be almost impossible to get back important data.

Depends on your budget. If you can afford it, I would go for 1TB SSD and 4TB HDD which is about the sweet spot currently.

I would recommend msi b450m mortar max instead. While the ASRock is good, msi is the only mainstream brand which includes a debug light to help in your troubleshooting for b450 series. Beats having to troubleshoot in the dark. Performance of the board is pretty good as well with pretty good inputs.

Thanks. I see that Mobo being heavily recommended too. What makes it stand out? Also, do you recommend the X570 or X470 series?

X570 or X470 is not necessary especially when you are looking to stretch your dollar and keep your cost low.

I think 2060 Super would be better. Yes, it is overkill for 60hz of 1080p but are you gonna stick to 60hz or 1080p forever? If budget is an issue, getting 2nd hand 1070 would be a better choice, you could find some with 1year+ warranty.

The Zotac GTX 1660 Super is measured at around 120W to 135W peak draw.

The Ryzen 5 3600 around 130~140W *system* power draw including a GTX2080Ti while running non-graphical CPU intensive load. With gaming, it goes up to around 370W. The 2080Ti draws about 2x of GTX 1660S.

To give some buffer, I'd say 500W PSU is more than good enough for his setup.

Personally, I run a 5700XT which draws close to 2x the 1660S on a Seasonic M12-II 520

Seems like the sweet spot here is 500 - 550W then.
