Start this thread to talk about routers with SFP+ ports, as well network switch with SFP+ port to be used with the router.
10G capable routers without SFP+ ports are not the topics in this thread.
Examples with dual 10G copper ports:
Asus ROG GT-BE98, ZenWiFi BQ16, GT-AXE16000;
TP-Link Archer BE805, TP-Link HB810 (for Singtel), TP-Link China TL-7TR13090;
Netgear Nighthawk RS700S, Netgear Orbi 970;
eero Max 7;
QNAP QHora-301W with WiFi 6, QNAP QHora-322 without WiFi but 3 x 10GBe ports;
etc.
Please go to the other thread to talk about 5G/10G capable router and switch without SFP+ ports.

It will be good for people who use the new VQ issued Huawei OptiXstar S800E XGS-PON ONU stick to report the success or failure of using a router or switch with the Huawei ONU stick.

VQ is now providing the option to use an XGS-PON ONU stick (no need an ONT/ONR) for their XGS-PON based 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps plan.

Q: What is SFP+ and the model provided by ViewQwest?
A: SFP+ is a compact, hot-pluggable transceiver designed for telecommunications and data communications. It supports high-speed data rates of up to 10Gbps.
ViewQwest provide the Huawei OptiXstar S800E - S800EXGS01, a miniature Optical Network Unit (ONU). This unit can be inserted into the SFP+ port of routers or network devices to enable 10-Gigabit-capable Symmetric Passive Optical Network (XGS-PON) access, suitable for high-definition video transmission or high-performance networking applications.
Q: Can I use the Huawei OptiXstar S800E with any router or network equipment?
A: The Huawei OptiXstar S800E is compatible with many routers and network devices that support GPON or XGSPON technology. However, it's essential to verify compatibility with your specific equipment.
Q: What devices provided by ViewQwest are compatible with the Huawei OptiXstar S800E?
A: The devices offered by ViewQwest that support the Huawei OptiXstar S800E include the Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE and the ASUS RT-AX89X.
BTW, this is also applicable for those who use GPON Stick to replace ISP's ONT/ONR for 1Gbps/2Gbps/2.5Gbps plan.
XGS-PON Stick is usually quite expensive so nobody has done the replacement of XGS-PON ONT/ONR with their own XGS-PON Stick previously. But now VQ is the first one to provide this option for power users. Not so sure if any other ISPs will follow (unlikely).
More about ONT/ONR replacement using GPON stick.ONU.

Thanks bro. For doing this call on behalf of all HBP bro like me lol
2nd day of launch. So I assume they didn’t do a lot of pre-training or Q&A scripts.
To be fair, sfp+ Optical Transceiver hands off is not a common ISP consumer offering. So it’s not wrong to assume a modem is required.
I see that as a progression of our internet broadband offering and the price point for this offering is certainly very exciting for power users. I remember quite a few members here were asking for sfp+ optical hands off option after SI consumer broadband was sold to VQ. Glad VQ manage to commoditize it at such price point.
@xiaofan , time to create a new thread on SFP+ option router![]()
