https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/typical-download-speeds#typicalspeed

all on this page. good read. what i see is what to "expect"
but nothing on SLA.

No SLA for consumer Fibre Internet offerings.

On the other hand, the user can reasonable expect the speed since Singtel claims "*The typical download speed range is computed to reflect that, at least 90% of the time, a user should experience the lower bound speed or higher."

I do hope Singtel keeps updating the page. Now it is from July to September 2023.

but they stated free modem rental for all their plans including the sfp+ onu one.
any bros free to give vQ a call? hahahaha
blood pressure on the low side today so decided to call VQ to get clarification
if you get sfp+ module, is the modem still provided? since website said it's provided which seems too good to be true.

part 1:
call CS hotline, quite a wait. she said all plans comes with modem. sfp+ is additional. summary she doesn't know what she is selling. ask me to call tech hotline. not helpful.

part 2:
call tech hotline. asked the same question. agent said the same the same thing. she said modem is required for all plans even if you use sfp+ onu module. i asked if she very sure. she said put on hold.

after 10 mins on hold.. she said the sfp+ module connects to the modem so is required. i explained to her how the connections works. and asked if she is very sure modem got sfp+ port. i told her if the fiber is connected to sfp+ then modem connect to what?

ask to put on hold again...... after 20+ mins ...
she finally came back and siad.. if you go for sfp+ module. modem is NOT provided.

low blood pressure now normalized....

Thanks bro. For doing this call on behalf of all HBP bro like me lol

2nd day of launch. So I assume they didn’t do a lot of pre-training or Q&A scripts.

To be fair, sfp+ Optical Transceiver hands off is not a common ISP consumer offering. So it’s not wrong to assume a modem is required.

I see that as a progression of our internet broadband offering and the price point for this offering is certainly very exciting for power users. I remember quite a few members here were asking for sfp+ optical hands off option after SI consumer broadband was sold to VQ. Glad VQ manage to commoditize it at such price point.

@xiaofan , time to create a new thread on SFP+ option router 😀

So apologies for asking, is the SFP+ module for a Fiber cable connection and not Ethernet cable connection?
Cos if it's just Ethernet cable connection, then that means you'll still need a modem which defeats the purpose. That is the most important thing that I am concerned about.

Not gonna lie. Going to miss the cute and tiny little Bridge modem that VQ gave. It fully boots up and can already receive Internet in under 10 seconds. Gonna miss this speedy little guy. Hope the new Modem boots up just as fast. I wanted the SFP+ module too but just so that I am SFP ready when I upgrade to a newer router down the line. But if it means no modem, then I'll have nothing to run the internet. :ROFLMAO:

Yep the sfp+ module will be the "modem".

I run some wacky setup so the SFP+ module will actually keep my db closet neater. Still gonna keep my m1 connection with a "normal" ont setup.

I do not know la. At first i still thinking that it is pending upgrade la and i am surprised to know that upgrade has completed and yet like that. However, i think you are right la, no one will provision such high throughput during peak hours. I can only forget about it.
I know I’m not able to enjoy and fully utilized the 10gbps speed, not much WiFi 7 devices out there anyway .. hence use the same setup to achieve only 2.5gbps. sell the tp810 router.. maybe 1 yr time revisit again.. hahah so no worries on the speed issue

Good one if you do not like the EB810v.

If you can sell the TP-Link EB810v at S$360, then paying S$55.39 Starhub 5Gbps plan (XGS-PON ONT + TP-Link EB810v router) is better than paying S$45 and then go with the ONT option, since the effective price is only at S$55.39 - S$15 = S$40.39 per month compared to the S$45 per month.

I’m on the 110 plan which comes with the Ont .. so technically save the ~10-15$ if sell the router mthly .. until a good router and more WiFi 7 devices becomes available

Not sure this is a correct statement. ST, SH and M1 all provisioned and continue to provision their 1Gbps service with max throughput (or very close to it) throughout the day including peak usage period. In fact ST commits to a typical 8221.50Mbps – 8224.36Mbps wired download speed throughout the day for their 10Gbps service and I see almost no complaints from ST 10Gbps customers of slow download during peak hours!

The analogy with the highways is also a false analogy- the highways provider is not and has never promised a certain minimum speed- whether during peak period or otherwise.
When on 1Gbps I got 950 mbps even during peak hours. As of June 2024 Starhub already completed its backend equipment. That is why I am worried.

Wifi 7 router also can use wifi 6 device like laptop and also can be faster say 2 Gbps via wifi 6 device.
