Anybody got experience using 10m HDMI wire? I recently installed it to connect laptop to TV and everything is OK but got one problem.

The TV will flicker when switches in the houses are flipped. Like when my mum switched on the kitchen lights or switch off the living room lights.

Idk if it's the cable or TV problem as both items are new and I have no prior experience using them. Really frustrating leh, I can hear a switch flip and 0.5secs later the TV screen goes black for about 1sec. Any Odyssey knows what is the problem? :<

Its coming from your power. I had that issue whenever the lights are on or off. Highly possible due to capacitors in said appliances discharges through the switches or just simply dirty AC. You can install an EMI filter or get a UPS (more expensive).

Highly unlikely its the cable though that will cause the issue. :o
I beg to differ. Last time i also faced similar problem using 3m cable from UF Tech. Problem went away immediately when i swap out for an AmazonBasics 3m cable. Problem reproducible whenever i use that UF Tech cable. :(

Nevertheless, 10m is simply too long for a HDMI cable and signal loss and electrical noise are inevitable.

Consider shifting your devices around and use 2-3m cable.

:s11: Wah suay. The only problem I've seen around is totally loss of signal or very intermittent signal at short intervals. These are on poor HDMI cables of course. I've used 25m HDMI cables for 2k projection at work with no issues.

Just changed to shorter wire. and didnt notice the flicker problem. but what i noticed too is that on the long wire, only when light switches are flipped, the screen will flicker. is this the 'common mode potential problem'?

Need so long ah? :s22:
If you really want a better solution, contact a AV installer
ask them help you install HDMI point in your room.

Cost wise don't ask me, few hundred maybe?

of cos longer the signal will be weaker and more prone to interference
