I have three PD chargers. I wouldn't touch a cheap adapter cable or charger with a ten foot pole. The risks are clear, as I have demonstrated with evidence.

More importantly, I wouldn't recommend someone with less experience do those things because they might not understand the potential havoc they might wreak.

Your ThinkPad is the used X260, yes? A $300 used ThinkPad is a long way away from a $1000+ brand new ultrabook. I might risk the former, but definitely not the latter.

I'm using 2 x Sony CP-ADRM2 and 1 x 20W Apple USB-C adapters, but I understand that the Sonys are not easy to find and the Apple is not something worth paying for. If I had to buy one today, I'd buy Anker's PowerPort III Atom, Innergie's 45H or 65W offerings.

Yes they're expensive, but that's the point. Reputable brand with built-in safeguards + 3 year local warranty + Safety mark so it's covered by your house insurance in case it does go horribly wrong. There's always the option to buy a used original HP/Dell USB-C charger from Carousell if you need something for $20+.
