Hi,

I am going to build a new com to replace my 7 years old dell e520. Have not try to bulld from scratch before (only upgrade the ram, gpu to 5670 & changed hdd), so is quite new to diy. Have done some reading and have compiled a list of what I might get. Like to have some comments/recommendations to what I suggested.

Budget: Around $1200
Games going to play: BF4, Bioshock 3, Tomb Raider

CPU/MB: i5-4460 / Asrock B85 Killer
GPU: Sapphire R9 280 3GB DRR5 (lazada)
SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB
RAM: Crucial / G.Skill 8gb 1600mhz
PSU: Supeflower HX600 600w 80+ Gold Semi Modular
Case: Sharktoon BD28, Corsair 200R/300R

Reused HDD (bought last year) & optical drive. No need peripherals.
As for the os, I got win 8.1 (upgrade from xp oem with the 17.99 promotion back then), not sure whether can reused?

Also, only have time to build in mid Nov, so is it worth it to but the sapphire r9 280 now on promotion?

Open to all suggestions/comments/recommendations. Thanks.

Not sure, I think is upgrade version. Any way to check?

Is it possible that I install win 7 using a friend disc, then use my product key to activate. Otherwise, I just buy a new win 7/8 os.

I can use my laptop to transfer. So this means that I can download win 8 full os, then use my key to activate?

Other than the smaller storage space, is there any difference between the Crucial mx 100 & Plextor m6s?

So what is your system configuration final setup?
How much total you spent?

Face down. You are supposed to orientate it such that the fan is drawing air from the bottom to take advantage of the natural air flow (hot air rises).
