If you have time and really care about maximising the experience then go PC.
But for many people, myself included, console gaming for sure. I have a much bigger 60" TV and amplifier/surround sound set up, I sit further away on a nice OSIM chair, and I don't like having to mess around with patches/tweaks/etc. Someone else has spent ages optimising the experience for my hardware and whilst it may not sound powerful on a spec sheet vs a new gaming PC, I'll probably get a better experience out of the box than many others would.
The PC games I like to play (namely CS & Simcity) aren't too demanding on specs so I can play on my Surface Pro 4; and the rest I play on console using a much better controller for fighting/driving/RPG games and sitting in a more comfortable position.
Of course the console can't do much else but this works on the assumption you are only interested in gaming rather than versatility.
