Ask himself this question. Why do he need a 1440p monitor?

Yes you cant get the onboard graphics to get qnix to display anything. For that you have to waste money on a gpu.

And whats the purpose to even get an i5 when he isnt gaming 1 bit.

No budget then no talk either. We cant give him any recommendations if no budget is given.

To be fair ts mentioned for surfing watching movies but not for gaming. Any Gpu with dual dvi can handle.

For CPU suggest go for intel g3258. Can be oced all the way to 4.3-4.5ghz. Can even add ssd to speed up os and programs.

I dont think he even needs to use a 1440p to multi task. Neither does it still warrants a i5 for his usage.

Advice him, we here do not recommend rubbish to go into i5 when one does not do anything intensive.

What he needs to know is that, there is no need to go for an i5 for his case, its not like he use an i5 it will be any faster in terms of multi tasking that he is doing. Not unless you telling me that he is a serious photoshop geek.

Any way for that budget....

ASRock H81M HDS + i3-4150 ~ $197
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz Value Ram ~ $78
WD Blue 1tb ~ $70
LiteON S900 128gb ~ $89
Powercolor r7 240 ~ $123
FSP OEM 300w ~ $35
Coolermaster Elite 361 ~ $56
LG DVD Drive ~ $21
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM ~ $115
Qnix QX2710 27inch PLS A- Panel ~ $245 (qoo10)

Total ~ $1029. Buy at tradepac, unless stated. DIY.

1440p for multi-tasking or screen estate heavy tasks is very very useful. Even for normal usage I think I will always recommend that over 1080p having tried both extensively.

I would think a GPU is not necessary. Just get a better CPU and use the IGP. In future if need be then just add a GPU.

Not on qnix. Qnix needs a gpu to power.

True that. Thought that there were motherboards that had DVI Dual Link but apparently not.

Could go with the Displayport version but then it is going to be more expensive overall too. Oh well guess he needs a graphics card after all.
