Does this make sense for a laptop used for playing with Hadoop, Big Data and log data analysis?

Or 8gb more than enough?

More RAM is never enough. I say go for the highest you can get. Also throw in some money for SSD as well.

for data analysis, what you need is swap space on SSD. Get a bigger SSD and use a large swap file instead. That would save you some money.

make sense

Hi big better but depends if you can afford the high price? In near future where ram is not a choice to upgrade then get as big as possible, bigger better if you have deep pocket.
