17 Inch : Razor Blade Pro or Alienware or MSI

Will be traveling to USA in Dec and thinking of purchasing an 17inch gaming laptop. It should be generally cheaper in USA so thinking which model will be value for money and widest gap in price compared to SG.

Mainly to play BF4, Diablo 3, Starcraft, etc...
Budget wise can range from 2-3k...

alienware/msi if performance is a priority, razer blade if you really need the switchblade interface, else get the MSI GS70 which is pretty much a cheaper razer blade

think about how much portability you need. if not much, get Alienware/MSI. MSI will be cheaper and better price/performance ratio, but Alienware's build quality is much better, and its got the better cooling system+looks uber cool. Screenwise the MSI GT70 will prob be the best screen amongst the rest, and Dynaudio is really impressive for a laptop.

If portability is impt, GS70 will be the better choice as its much much lighter than any other 17" gaming laptop and you will have no problems running those games just that maybe you can't run ultra graphics settings for BF4, but Diablo and Starcraft u can get pretty high settings still. Not considering Razer cos it will be out of your budget.

Can't say much about battery life, cos usually you will need to plug in when you game.

Portability will not be a key concern as it will be mainly used at home.

Buying from USA should be cheaper for Alienware, making it a closer gap between MSI in SG?

Was checking between Alienware USA & Alienware SG website.
The same spec was selling USD$2099 (SGD$2600) vs SGD$3599...
A gap of SGD$1000 (27%) difference...

Yeah, similar situation as you are Bear in mind though, unless you are travelling to Oregon, you would be subjected to sales tax of varying percentages (8.8% in New York). But i know Amazon can ship to most states without sales tax, so ordering from Amazon can have some savings, and they can ship in 2 - 3 days if you sign up for their trial Prime program

Not sure if they can ship to hotel then?
Michigan is 6%, guess it might be better to get it there.
Not sure if they are okay to deliver to hotels.

Any reason why you are not considering Alienware (USA) instead of MSI (Taiwan)?

I'm pretty sure they can ship to the hotel, you just need to inform the concierge and input your room No when ordering on top of the hotel address.

Well.... it was more for the absolute price, since the MSI with GTX770m can go as low as 12XXUSD with free shipping, but I might take a closer look at Alienware

Actually for me it's comparing the value as well. MSI GS70 is also about SGD$2600 for GTX765M. And comparing with Alienware 17 with GTX770M from USA, seems like no brainer. Well, of course if your concern is about portability, then it's a different topic.
