Hi

I am exploring the option of building my own PC with a estimated $2500 budget. PC is mainly used for office work, role playing and FPS games.

Casing: NZXT S340
Motherboard: MSI Z370-A Pro
Processor: Intel I7 8700K
Graphics Card: Zotac - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB AMP Extreme Video Card
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666MHz CL16
Storage - SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB
Storage - HDD: TOSHIBA 2TB 3.5 INCH HDD (Buffer Size 32MB)
PSU: Super Flower Leadex Gold 550W
OS: Windows 10 Home 64bit
CPU Cooling: Cryorig C7 Low Profile 47mm CPU Cooler

I also have a Samsung 840 1TB SSD in my old laptop that I plan to reuse as storage.

Hope to seek some feedbacks on the build and any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Why use C7 when you are not using it in itx case? Go for h7 I would say.

Ssd just evo ver are good enough, you wont notice the difference unless writing big files like video encoding.

Get a beefier cpu cooler if you intend to oc. Or just get none k ver if you dont intend to oc.

May I ask what kind of office work? If you aren't doing any type of work that requires multi core applications, then you don't really need to get an i7, an i5 would suffice.

Just letting you know if you wanted to shave off some money from your budget and putting it into something else.

Alternatively, get the non k i7. It comes with it's own(crappy) cooler so it shaves off the cost for a spearate cooler. Chip is cheaper as well and performs the same in game compared to it's k counterpart.

Now question is, what type of work?

Work that I will be doing at home would probably be fairly simple since most of it is done at work. At most just some simple data processing and spreadsheets which I assume wouldnt take too much processing power.

If that is the case, should I drop to a 8600k or a 8400? Would the stock cooler be sufficient?

keep the 8700k, overclock to at least 5ghz. =D

8400 is perfect for your usage. Stock cooler is good enough but it can be a little noisy. Anyway, just try out the stock cooler first since it's free. If really cannot take the noise then go ahead and get a cheap 3rd party cooler. You do not need to worry about temps at all.

I'd recommend the hyper 212,from cooler master, it's cheap and good.
