My previous desktop died on me and I would like build a decent gaming computer (cause its cheaper to build than buy) and would like some advice on whether the parts I choose are fine
My primary use would be gaming (more recent games like AC3, lara croft etc, don't need max settings), watch shows, and perhaps some light video editing. No OCing. My budget is about $1000 excluding OS, mouse, keyboard, speakers.
I am a noob with all these computer parts but after some research, have decided to get something like (open to suggestions):
CPU: i5-3470
Mobo: H77/Z77 chipset
GPU: GTX 650 Ti/660 Ti/ 670
ODD: Any decent DVD-RW should be okay?
HDD: Seagate/Hitachi 500 GB HDD + 64/128GB SSD
Monitor: 20-22" (which brands good and cheap?)
RAM: 2x 4gb 1333mhz/1600mhz both are fine (which brand good)?
PSU: 500-550w (80+ Bronze) should be enough?
Case: Not good with cases
I'm not too sure the difference for each part for individual retailers (e.g. AsRock, Gigabyte) but I see there are different variations for the same part so advice on which brand I should get will be a great help. Also those parts I named are just a rough idea so opinions on what I should switch them with are also welcome! (hopefully not too expensive compared to what I have picked as I am on a budget). I have bad blood with ASUS so preferably no parts from them.
Also, if I get Haswell, which are the parts which I might need to reconsider because of possible compatibiliy issues? Not sure if getting a Haswell will be a good future-proof idea, I aim to use this rig for at least 3 years (with possible gpu upgrades)
Thanks in advance for any help!
