shopping wise wld definetly be looking into buying a bass guitar and loads of vinyls

need recommendations for gd and cheap makan (once in a while some mid ses food wld be fine) and also if there's any package deals that can help us save some money on moving ard, sight seeing etc....

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Vinyl mecca! everything u ever wanted is in Japan, just depends whether you can afford it, especially if you are looking for first or rare presses as they are "appropriately Priced". the rest really depend on your luck.

Tip: Disk Union is ultimately the best place to shop in Japan. I didnt feel any of the other shops were really up to their reputation. Unless you going out of Tokyo. for new records u can check out Big Love Records

I wasted my chance of not going into music shops because I was too distracted by the amount of Vinyl. regretting it now.

Also if you're into Film Photography, there's this second hand shop in Shinjuku near YodaBashi have cheap stuff. My wife bought Nikon FE body for ¥5000 and a Nikkor 50mm f1.4 for ¥10,000. Thats a good $200 discount from the overpricers in Carousell or the like haha.

There's loads of budget fast food you will encounter, Suki-ya, Yoshinoya or standing sushi bars. Even Konbinis are delicious.

How many days for your trip? If it’s a week, just stay within Tokyo.

not looking out for rare/1st press/exclusive titles, just wanna get some titles tht are not commonly found in sg due to the musicians not really known to the general public. 2nd hands are perfectly fine with me

thts a gd price for the 50mm 1.4, is it the AIS one? cause i bought b4 at ard SGD$200

will look out for the makan places, thanks

Historical and culture definitely kyoto for me.

dnt think i wanna travel back and forth to kyoto since the bullet train is abt SGD170/person/way

yup its the AIS one. You can check em out, just type "Shinjuku used camera market" in Google Maps. It was hard to find, second floor in an unnamed building. The katakana for camera is カメラ, that's how I spotted the shop.. just don't ask for discount or tax-free lol.

If you looking to develop film in 2-3 hours, theres this shop called Oosawa Camera as well in Ebisu. Cheaper and better than any developers in SG.

If you drink, there's this bar in Shibuya called JBS that's pretty fun as their walls are stacked with Vinyl. Drinks are priced at ¥500. There's also a "Coin Bar" in the basement of HMV Records. They sell drinks for ¥300(Dec 2017-Jan 2018)

Wah Shiok!

I think got for Digital as well. Alot of used camera shops around. Got a used Leica shop also, i think its called Lucky Camera. Never used Leicas before so I can't really help you there.

** damn Jialat, with haversack loh. My shoulders begging for mercy. I had to carry 2 cameras, 2 totes and drag 1 Large Luggage as well haha. Hope your haul won't be too heavy :D

Also to manage your expectations, my haversack filled with 30 records, and maybe 5 pieces of t-shirts and a shawl, is 14kg. just double check your luggage limits

For a little bit of "Kyoto" feel, you can consider Kamakura, just about an hour from Shinjuku. Can also visit Yokohama along the way.

i only come across one guitar store in Sapporo leh, and its a 9 hour train ride from Tokyo.

You go find the 8 storey Disk Union in Shinjuku, then after dig, walk down abit further. There will be another 2 more Disk Union, one caters to heavy rock, and one Jazz ;) Maybe a small corner for Funk. I think I got my Miles Davis ESP there for ¥1000 for reference. Try Disk Union at Shimo-Kitazawa as well. I got Herbie's Sextent for ¥700 over there. if your interested in Brazilian music just watch out for bootlegs.

Can see youtube also, there's this SG guy who videos his digging spots in Tokyo. Good luck!

If it's purely Tokyo, consider a day trip for Hakone.

Yes go hakone for a day or two (a night stay there if possible since their day pass is min 2 days might as well utilise fully).

The scenery there is so nice and peaceful. I just came back from my 2 weeks trip. 1 week staying in kyoto another week staying in shinjuku.
