Agree that their aftersales service really :s22:. Had to lug my E5 down all the way to tell me not speaker fault.:s22:

But since they distro, any other shops willing to repair for u or they will still get u to go back Sinamex (distro) for repairs?

its seriously cmi... they keep flip words here and there...

i sent in my eve audio sub and ask them to quote me for the repair price after they have diagnosed what to replace as it might be some internal connection loose. They estimated the cost of repair to be 40% of the new sub price to get the amp replaced as they suspect that the amp was faulty.

I waited for a few days and did not receive any call from them, so i called in. They asked me to be patient and say that they have ordered the replacement part without even giving me a proper quote and even me agreeing on it. So i asked them whats the cost of repair and they say is around $800, which is 50% of a new sub price. :s13::s22:

So i ask them dispose the sub away for me

Oh well..

I more or less quite tempted try out and get the LSR305... Replacing my super old school Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 (8-10 years old liao)

Looking to start the journey of DAC & Amps on PC.. Still learning the basics though..

For your budget and usage, HANDS DOWN - Swans D1080-IV @ $249.
I would NOT recommend any other speakers in this price range for a 2.0 setup.
But you could go with the little brother, the D1010-IV for $179.

Think you can get them cheaper in lazada with codes.

1010 isn't really its little brother.
Last time before TD becomes the distro .
The blue forum seller let me audit side by side. We both agree the sound signature/ tone for 1080 vs 1010 are very different.

I picked the 1010 in the end, becos it sounds better for the songs that i usually listens.

wow the PreSonus E4.5 and E5 look amazing. How would one control the volume for E5? Assuming my laptop will be the source, without DAC I would control it via Windows volume control? If via a external DAC, I would require a preamp after the DAC?

Each speaker has a volume knob at the back. Set them to an appropriate value like -20dB, and then do further control with the computer or whatever you wish.

Volume is usually controlled via external DAC/soundcard or Windows Volume Control. E5 is biamplified (1 amp per speaker), so there is no need to add preamp. Just connecting from laptop audio jack to speaker inputs will do.

Thanks for the replies. Most of the DACs I'm eyeing come with an amp bundled together. If i'm not wrong this means the RCA outputs are already amped. Does this mean I need to find a DAC that does not amp (no volume knob) in order to avoid double amping?

No problem either way

The problem of double amping is an idea that is perpetuated by self-proclaimed "purists" who don't actually have much idea of amplification circuits.

So my dad gave a Bravo Audio Ocean recently: https://www.amazon.com/Bravo-Audio-Ocean-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B00A2QKSVI

I just plugged it in between my laptop and Creative Gigaworks T20. Had to play with volumes on laptop/Bravo/T20.... but seems like the sound does sound slightly fuller as compared to T20 alone. Any issues using the Bravo as a preamp for monitors like PreSonus?

I have tested connections between laptop and presonus speakers direct (3.5mm to dual RCA cable), and also connections with a DAC in between (USB cable to Asus U7 soundcard, then RCA to TRS cable to speaker). Both work, just that the connection with the DAC in between gives a slightly louder volume at same software volume levels. So as ling as u can get the correct cable connections, the Bravo should work just fine.

Since talking about 2.0 , after reshuffling my room. And using a different plug.

My speakers have some hissing noise when gaming and only when gaming. Isolated the fault as power issue. (Using a different PowerPoint removes the hissing. )

Do you guys know if a dac would help? The speakers are the lsr 305

Is the different powerpoint on the same power extension, or do you mean different wall socket? Is it electrically nearer or further from the computer?

Check whether lifting ground on LSR305 solves the issue. If it does, isolate the ground between LSR305 and computer, either using a SPDIF DAC or using a USB DAC and also buying those USB isolator.
