200mm fans are terrible.
They have literally zero pressure and are bad.
Go with dual 120mm if your case allows it.
Is static pressure important even without radiator? I thought 200mm bring good CFM for significantly lower cost.
In any case

, this is the case I'm talking about:
Thermaltake Core X2
Its a monster of a case with multiple fan configurations. The idea of good airflow, close ambient temps excites me.
For example, in the front intake, I could affix (1x 200mm + 1x 120mm), or [3x 120mm]. I'm ditching the 2x 140 (comparatively poor CFMs). Since I'm concerned with noise, I would prefer quality 120 fans, like Noctua or Corsair quiet editions.
For fair comparison, I also included a pair of same manufacturers models with different dimensions, namely Bitfenix Spectre Pro. (Cybermind pricelist)
Statistics
Airflow (max CFM ↓ with ↑ no. of parallel fans, expect lower):
-
200mm fans
247 CFM for 2x (Thermaltake Thunderblade 20 Plus)
206 CFM for 2x (NXZT 200mm LED)
297 CFM for 2x (Bitfenix Spectre Pro)
-
120mm fans
239 CFM for 6x (Corsair AF120 Quiet Edition High Airflow)
326 CFM for 6x (Noctua NF-P12)
337 CFM for 6x (Bitfenix Spectre Pro)
Pressure (pressure does not stack in parallel config):
-
200mm fans
0.92 mmH2O (Thermaltake Thunderblade 20 Plus, 800rpm, 30.3dBA)
0.83 mmH2O (NXZT 200mm LED, 700rpm, 20 dBA)
1.26 mmH2O (Bitfenix Spectre Pro, 900rpm, 27.5 dBA)
-
120mm fans
0.50 mmH20 (Corsair AF120 Quiet Edition High Airflow, 1100rpm, 21 dBA)
1.68 mmH2O (Noctua NF-P12, 1300rpm, 19.8 dBA)
1.24 mmH2O (Bitfenix Spectre Pro, 1200rpm, 18.9 dBA)
In addition, the benefits of high static pressure fans to exhaust hot air (high pressure) into the ambient (lower pressure) is negligible, relegating the advantage of high pressure fans to the intakes only.
Statistically, 120mm fans edge out but realistically its way too expensive.
Noctua NF-P12 sells at $33, and the case can accommodate a total of 9 fans in areas where 200mm is an option. $297 vs $90 (200mm bitfenix). Also ↑ no. of fans = ↑ in acoustics.
