2012 11' MBA Flashing Question Mark

Came home, tried booting my com up but was shown the flashing question mark.

Internet recovery does not work. Local recovery at disk utility could not detect ssd.

Tried the reinstall option but stuck at choose drive page as there is nothing for me choose from.

Read online that Apple is replacing SSD but requires one to run a firmware update via the mac app store to see if one qualifies.

Given the current state of my computer. I can't run that firmware.

Read online that Apple replaced ssd foc even those without warranty.

I suspect that mine is having the same problems as the rest. Ssd failed.

Anyone with similar problems can share their experience with apple service center in singapore with me?

My machine. Mba 2012 128gb running mavericks os when this thing happened.

Dead SSD.
Send it down for a check. You should get a replacement.

Recommend you to get a case number with Apple first.

You can get them to call you etc. just follow through the site.

I am sorry.

My machine is a mid 2011 11" MBA bought instead of 2012.

I guess this changes many things and I am afraid that Apple is unwilling to replace my SSD and wishes to charge even for diagnosis.

you have 3 options

1) bite the bullet and send it in for SSD replacement

2) buy your own SSD and replace on your own.

3) boot and use from USB (sounds stupid, but this is the cheapest option)

u cant simply buy an ssd from outside and replaced on a macbookAIR
repairers can only sell 2ndhands

OWC do sell Macbook Air SSDs and have videos showing us how to do so.

Gonna contact them and ask for a quote first but I think they will want me to send the machine in for diagnosis and even if I do go for the repairs, I have to pay for diagnosis.

You mean try booting from an External HDD? If you mean the USB OS Installer, Nope, pressing down C while booting up has no response.

nope, i mean installing the OS on to a external drive and then booting and using the machine from it.
