Nonsense. I ran 2012 R2 on standard PC Desktop Hardware often. Worked fine.

I ran many Windows 2012 r2 Standard and Datacenter edition as VMs on my VMware Workstation, ESXi, Virtualbox, Xen Server, Promox VE, Hyper-V...

Don't need to buy specific hardwares for running Windows server lah, just use VM on your existing PC can liao...
