You did not read skyjuicetse post? Bank where got the money to deposit? They use beautiful terms "loans from the Banks"; effectively, a recall. Why Fed want to borrow from the banks? They use the term "reverse repo" which effectively means "sold" or "return" lah.

These questions reveal that you know even less than I do about the workings of the Federal Reserve system. :s13:

Anyways, if you are touting hyperinflation, forget it. Ain't gonna happen.

This chart clearly shows we will have a bad year in 2016. It is not only time but also, it makes lower lows and lower highs plus going beyond last year's low

So much for this Soh Tiong Hum from Terraseeds.

For me, 2016 will be remembered as 1) Donald Trump becomes the US president, 2) A Singaporean won an Olympic medal, 3) Oil rebounded from low of $30, 4) SMRT is delisted.

I went to look at STI max:

sti.jpg

you can see linear or log, no matter what, it looks like a long term upward trend to me, though there are periods of overshoot and undershoot. The 3 visible undershoots are 1) asian financial crisis, 2) dot-com bubble burst, and 3) subprime, aka global financial crisis. It seems that we are currently somewhere around the mean. This oil crisis doesn't seem to be as big as the media presented.

Ya.....the oil crisis was not as crazily severe as the mainstream media portrayed (but the Swiber crisis did up the notch on market fears for a few weeks :s22:)

IMO, the greater problem with this O&G crisis is that historically low oil price was being prolonged over an unprecedented long time (more than 2 years!).....many small players could not survive the storm :(

The dip in the chart in 2015 was also quite significant...shows that STI etf is rather exposed to O&G sector thru Kep Corp, SCI and SMM:s22:

For me, 2016 will be remembered as the year my portfolio survived China market panic, O&G contagion crisis, Zika virus outbreak, Brexit & Trump presidency while still expanded from $301k last year to the current $352k.....:s12::D

Last year-end portfolio.....time really flies :s22:

This is the price I queued on 22 Nov but didn't managed to get when it closed at 3.6. On 23 Nov it opened at 3.6 but I was out of office having a meeting. When I came back after lunch, price already went to... and from there on... it went higher and higher. :(
TP 3.60 :D No hurry.....
