Please have a look at the SJ9 soundbar. It is quite impressive.
I already have a 5.1 speaker setup for 10 years. (though the speakers change throughout the years)
The thing is, the way the TV is positioned in my room where it is off centre and close to the right side of the wall, I did not believe in using soundbars just so I can upgrade my 5.1 setup to a 5.1.2 Atmos setup with a soundbar where the sound will be unbalanced due to the positioning itself unless the rear speakers can physically move to adapt to the weird positioning.
So out of curiousity, I tried the Atmos with both my internal and 5.1 speaker setup followed by just the internal speakers and was surprised the effect works.
The sound quality was because someone has to mention it. For me personally, I will never use TV speakers ever. Thus my dependency on the 5.1 speakers.
The feel between physical 5.1 speakers and a soundbar is different. The soundbar feels like you are encapsulated in a bubble with sound flying around if your soundbar supports the Atmos or DTS:X format when I tried the demo for Creative and LG SJ9.
That is why when buying a soundbar, I went to look for only the best as well which supports both formats and more. Thus my investment in a now '$7999' Creative Sonic Carrier. Though I only bought it for $2K+
