Anyone experience this? Its more like you can activate google assistant with voice match the 1st time then it wont respond for the 2nd "Hey / Ok Google"... if you exit assistant, it will repeat..only respond to the 1st "Hey / Ok Google" only...

I managed to solve this.

Basically,
Settings->Apps->Google
Clear Cache
Clear Data
Uninstall previous update
Restart phone

Then try again, if working as intended.

Proceed to download the latest Google Apk from apk mirror. (Version 8.49.4.21.arm64)

Voila it's done.

*If you are using pixel stand, remember to go to connected devices and forget the pixel stand. And just reconfigure and everything will work fine.

I stopped using "Ok Google" now after Google made it such that you can no longer make calls or send messages when phone is locked.

With so many different (and easier) ways to activate Google Assistant when phone is unlocked, "Ok Google" is now pretty useless to me. I can long press the home button to activate Google Assistant. I can also just click on the Assistant logo in the search bar on the home screen. I can also squeeze the phone. Not worth it at all to leave "Ok Google" on since it also drains battery....

Yea definitely there are many ways to activate assistant. However, i felt really crippled yesterday when i identified this issue as well. Assistant on pixel stand didn't work and i was already so used to saying goodnight, good morning , doing calculation on the go, setting reminders all with a simple "hey google" command.

And it doesn't really affect battery life on the pixel 3 XL that is.

Yeah use forwarder. I used hopshopgo with my Pixel 2 (non XL) last year. They used DHL so it was easy to track and delivery was smooth.
