But pixel and oneplus phones are the most easiest phone to restore back to factory state with proper relocking of bootloader. So I guess warranty is still possible

Yeah easy. When I send in my 6p for rma, they rejected because it was rooted. When home remove root and lock bootloader, next day no issue rma. There's no trace at all.

in the end, couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on the Black Friday US Google Store deal.
lol. can't imagine dealing with all the possible warranty issue
