Guys need some help on knowing what exactly is the replacement policy for Pixel 3 bought from Singtel. My phone is about 4 months old and now there are signs of screen burn or black spots on the display. I went to CDTI and they tell me that this is a known issue and manufacturing defect but I'm not eligible for a replacement but they will provide a free screen replacement. Well sounds very convenient for a them to say this but if this is a known manufacturing defect why am I not eligible for a replacement? Google tells me if I had to buy the phone from the store the policy would be different. Is this true? Has anyone had a phone replaced via CDTI?

I'm not able to post my links on here as I'm a new user but any help on this topic is much appreciated.

Why can't you accept a repair?

What will Google do? (SUBJECT TO APPLICABLE LAW, THIS IS YOUR EXCLUSIVE REMEDY) If a defect covered by this Limited Warranty arises and you return your Device during the Limited Warranty period (which is one year for new devices and 180 days for refurbished devices), Google will in its sole discretion and to the extent permitted by law repair your Device using new or refurbished parts, replace your Device with a new or refurbished Device functionally at least equivalent to yours, or accept the return of your Device in exchange for a refund of the purchase price you paid for your Device. If Google repairs or replaces your Device, the repaired or replaced Device will continue to be warranted for the remaining time of the original warranty period. All returned parts for which you have received a replacement will become the property of Google. Repair or replacement may result in loss of data. Nothing in this Limited Warranty will reduce or otherwise affect your statutory rights in relation to your Device.

My P3XL got stuck at the Google logo after installing the update and did its usual restart. I waited about 1 and 1/2 hour. What was the main cause? I had to roll back to previous Android 10 version.

Try install again. Sometimes google had this (bad) reputation when after updates show no android os system (i kena twice). A simple soft reboot will do.

I can accept repair but what's scary is that this can happen again accord to posts I've seen online. If Google has accepted this as a manufacturing defect why not extend the warranty on the units like the 2 XL?
This is by the happens only after about a few months of use, it a screen burn from what I can tell. You can Google for Pixel 3 black spots or screen burn or screen defects.
At least with a newer unit I could get a different hardware version?
But it's like buying a lottery when you buy a Google phone man.

Why can't you accept a repair?

Just ask for a repair.

If the same thing happens, then demand for a replacement.

Thanks for your help man, I demanded a Google supervisor to contact me regarding this case and I was told that the warranty policy for Singapore is Repair ONLY. I'm fine with that but he even mentioned that if this happens again it's upto CDTI to take the next course of action which is again repair only.
Guess its only upto luck with the new display :-/
I've used every Nexus/Pixel device and have had my share of bad luck with the Nexus 5x bricking, Pixel 2 XL display flickering issue.
At this point I can only says it's my bad luck and hope this doesn't happen again or to anyone else.
But the folks at CDTI mentioned that this is a very common problem.
My question to the Google rep was if this is a known issue/hardware problem why doesn't Google identity which block or series is having trouble and do a recall or provide extended warranty? If foxcon or LG is to be blamed for the bad display why make the customer to pay for a manufacturing defect?
He didn't have an answer and took this as a feedback.

I had my Nexus 5X bricked on the 1st day after warranty was over.

Nobody can be worst than me.

If the display has a problem, the logical thing to do is to replace the display.

The other parts of the phone is unlikely to cause the display to malfunction. Unless, the user has a problem handling the display itself.

If you are so worried, my advice is to repair and then sell it off to upgrade to P4.
