So 40 or 48gbps is still considered overkill right?
Anyway even rtx 2080 ti cannot hit that benchmark I Guess.

The RTX 2080 Ti only has HDMI 2.0 port. It is confirmed incapable of even 4K 60Hz with uncompressed video signal.
Since the rumours of the next RTX 3060 is that it is at the performance of the RTX 2080 Ti, we can safely assume the RTX 3080 Ti or whatever flagship GPU card the Nvidia releases will be capable of 4K 120Hz or even more (for those with 8K displays).
So if that is true, then no worries. All those cards will definitely be running with HDMI 2.1 specs.![]()
Guys. Huge news regarding the 2020 version of LG TVs including OLED and LCD.
Their HDMI 2.1 ports will not have the full 48Gbps speed and will only be limited to 40Gbps.
It may or may not be a problem.
I believe this should not be a problem as firstly, We are running the image in 4K 120Hz not 8K 60Hz.
In 8K, we need 4 times as many 4K images as there were for 4K 120 which is essentially only doubling the 4K image.
Take note, the HDMI 2.1 48Gbps can reach up to 10K 120Hz. So running at 4K 120Hz without compression is still overkill for a 4K TV.
But in case you are wondering, ALL of the 2019 LG TVs including the OLED and LCD do have actual 48Gbps on their HDMI 2.1 ports.
