Kuo: New MacBook Pro Models to Feature Flat-Edged Design, MagSafe, No Touch Bar and More Ports

1. The two new models are equipped with about 14-inch and 16-inch displays, respectively.
2. In terms of casing design, the new models cancel the curvy design of existing models’ top and bottom parts and adopt a flat-edged form factor design similar to the *iPhone 12*.
3. The *MagSafe* charging connector design is restored.
4. The OLED touch bar is removed, and the physical function buttons are restored.
5. There is no Intel CPU option for the new models.
6. They are equipped with more types of I/O, and most users may not need to purchase additional dongles.

just removing those touch bar is a good deciding factor for me to upgrade although I still prefer intel cpu too early for those m1 they made the only good thing it does is lowering the macbook prices a bit with not sure of performance.

Whether you like it or not, Apple Silicon is here to stay and it will be the way forward. Apple Silicon trumps Intel chips in majority of the test and Intel has a long way to go to match the power and efficiency of Apple Silicon.

It will be sorted out first by adding external eGPU support, then later by internal GPU.

I am pretty sure companies like Blackmagic is already working with Apple in adding the eGPU support to Apple Silicon Mac.

Kuo Ming-Chi's predictions are quite credible and there's a high possibility it'll be like that. After moving from my mid 2015 15" MBP to current 13" M1 MBP, I'd say performance is quite significant.

Since it's also my first MBP with Touch Bar, I've no hate for it, though I don't use it often but looks fancy. Seems like now it's moving back to something like my 2015 model with MagSafe, all the main ports and physical function keys.

I still have my 2015 MBP though left speaker is faulty with crackling sounds above 50% volume and batt capacity around 85%. If only the M1 chip is put into my 2015 MBP chassis, it'll be perfect! One thing I favour MagSafe on Mac is its ease of connection and the status light really helps. I can leave my MBP turned off and just by waiting for the orange light to turn green, I'll know it's fully charged. With current models via USB-C, I've to check by waking from sleep mode to see charge status.

I have a feeling MagSafe is going back in different form from what we are expecting. Like perhaps charge your iPhone on your MacBook Pro that type.

Yes that's a possibility as well. It was rumoured the palm rests on each side is also a MagSafe charger.

If your MBA don't have any problems that renders it inoperable, why not? Just wait out and the wait will be worth it.

Yup was asking my wife to approve the budget to buy new MBA or MBP till i read this thread.... forgot its around the time for Apple to announce some newbies

my MBA in fact still working perfectly fine, just replaced the battery today. Other than the "scar" mark on the top left corner, its working well. My only concern is that its unable to install latest MAC OS and other new app. Its also unable to use some features in Zoom for training purpose.

Just a heads up, Apple Silicon is very speedy and boots up in mere seconds after opening the lid. The newer models should be even speedier with the successor of the M1 (either M1X or M2). I know a number of people find the Touch Bar not very useful but I find it 'stylo' haha....Physical buttons are more tactile and faster, and the new MacBooks returning to physical keys and MagSafe charging is also a good move, something which is evident on my 2015 model.

Actually MBA and MBP 13 inch look identical to me, less the the touch bar.
But I do prefer the MBP built, more alike to current Ipad & iPhone. Previously was using MBP 15 inch and i do really miss MBP....

Thickness also different, though ports remain the same.

I was also using 15” on my 2015 MBP, so now still need getting a bit used to the smaller screen.
