As usual, Scrabby with all the historical records

But sometimes the records may mask the current team situations

Only one team to qualify!

On paper, everyone is raving about Spain being the unstoppable star-performer. Deep inside, I quietly laugh at them. What u will be witnessing tonight is a Spain that's gonna be hit with a string of curses & bad luck.

First, their terrible record against a major tournament host:

2018 ■ R16 vs Russia 1-1 (pk3-4) L
2004 ■ GS vs Portugal 0-1 L
2002 ■ QF vs South Korea 1-1 (pk 3-5) L
1996 ■ QF vs England 0-0 (pk 2-4) L
1988 ■ GS vs West Germany 0-2 L
1984 ■ GF vs France 0-2 L
1980 ■ GS vs Italy 0-0 D
1950 ■ FR vs Brazil 1-6 L
1934 ■ QF vs Italy 1-1 (rep 0-1) L

As seen abv, in 90 years of major tournament football played by Spain, they have never defeated a host (0%).

Secondly, the quarter-final curse. Among all 4 Euro quarter-finals played by Germany, Die Mannschaft have been victorious 100% of the time (refer below for Euro QF records):

2016 ■ QF vs Italy 1-1 (pk 6-5) W
2012 ■ QF vs Greece 4-2 W
2008 ■ QF vs Portugal 3-2 W
1996 ■ QF vs Croatia 2-1 W

Furthermore, tonight will be their 19th quarter-final tie across the World Cup (14) and European Championship (5), the most of any European nation at the two major tournaments. They have progressed from 15 of their previous 18 (83%), including all four at the Euros as shown abv (100%).

Thirdly, the German turf curse. After the first encounter in 1935 when the 2 nations met, Germany has never been defeated at home by Spain ever since. Never!

Finally, no host nation has ever been eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the UEFA European Championship, with all four previous host quarter-finalists progressing: England won a penalty shootout against Spain in 1996, the Netherlands beat Yugoslavia 6-1 in 2000, Portugal beat England on penalties in 2004, and France defeated Iceland 5-2 in 2016.

If u look carefully at the Spanish team, Yamal, Pedri & Nico are still very young. Seriously, at this stage of the tournament do u really wanna put your trust on a secondary 4 teenager & two young adults? I have strong feeling they will be outwitted by the vision of Kroos & assassinated by Gundogan later.
If lucky, host Germany may be awarded a penalty.

Prediction:
Germany to qualify
@Scrabby Today at this point. I didn't buy becos I was busy.

Then now I look at the TV.. I think your prediction left 15 mins more to proof to be wrong.

Both side all anxious. Yellow cards flying
