They will definitely not allow themselves similar mistakes against weaker opponents again, especially when the next 2 opponents ie Hungary/ Suisse are teams that they fail to defeat for 3 consecutive games in a row. Hence, 1 goal margin is not the answer tonight, making historical H2H stats between these two nations irrelevant. Realistically, I see a repeat of 1992 Euro scoreline.

Looking at Scotland, recent scorelines against Europe's major powerhouse France (A)/ Holland (A)/ Spain (A)/ England (home) clearly shows one thing in common, ie a 2 goal or more margin favoring the stronger team.

Prediction:
Germany 2-0 Scotland, Kai Havertz/ Gundogan to score.

Results between the 2 sides were traditionally ruled by decades of dominance, with the last 30 years in Swiss's favour. However, this will not be the case starting tonight as fortunes are turning. I firmly believe Hungary will go far this tournament and easily march on to qualify for World Cup 2026.

Last 2 Euro tournaments, we saw Hungary alr have the ability to draw with superpower nations eg the eventual champion of Euro2016 Portugal (nearly knocked out by Hungary), WC2018 champion France & Germany.

While closely fought, what eventually prevails between the two is the hunger, combating spirit & eagerness to win that we shall witness later on. Hence, a victory against Switzerland tonight is beyond my doubt before they meet host Germany.


Prediction: Hungary 2-1 Switzerland, Sallai/Varga to score.
