Recently there's an article about a father throwing joss paper outside the flat of a guy who isn't working much. He feels that his daughter should stay away from the guy.
But here's my thoughts:
That man's daughter should learn her own lesson, and write her own story, if its similar to this, so be it.
Life is all about choices, live with it.
Marry the wrong guy? You chose your own path, right?
I agree to a certain extent that kids should be allowed to make mistakes and learn from these.
However, from a parent’s point of view, it’s really a complex feeling when you see the kid walking towards a “pot-hole” but do nothing to pull him/her back.
True, the kid may learn a lesson at the end of the day, but at what price?
To a parent, he/she would have felt that they might have failed the kid, somehow. There’d always be that nagging feeling that had the parent done more, he/she would have prevented the scenario from happening. Call it the protective instinct of a parent, I suppose?
Of course, there’ll come one day when parents are no longer in the position to help their children and only to let go.
