Hi all, I need help on building a rig, plus/minus ~$2500. I am planning to buy a ROG SWIFT PG279Q 2560 x 1440 monitor(144hz). Monitor price will not be included in gaming rig budget. Looking at buying a Asus GTX1080 ti graphic card to support the monitor and coffee lake intel chip(if its compatible). I am not sure if waiting for coffee lake intel chip is worth it so please advice. Need help in building a gaming rig with the 3 criteria in mind, also I hope to have good airflow and cooling system(amount of fans needed and placement) to ensure no overheating leading to poor performance, will also need some advice regarding this aspect. Thanks in advance for your help.

Kabylake or kopilake?
GPU must be that asus GTX 1080ti?

Next are u going to OC your system?
Do custom WC?
PC put on the desk or floor?

Being able to fully use the specs of ROG SWIFT PG279Q which I think minimally it is to hit 144fps with close to max settings if not max settings.

Regarding CPU I am just listing out an option which I honestly do not know much about. Advice?

Regarding GPU is there a better one out there that runs nvidia and also puts out better/same performance for better price point?


Yes, 2500 without monitor.

No water-cooling system please, as I am not a fan of it. Feel free to persuade me into WC

What is rgb? I don't plan to OC, PC to be put on desk. Usage would be probably at 8 hours of gaming per session up to 14 hours.

go for any TI will do dun need to be asus. Asus similar products from others you are paying a good 200sgd premium. although Ban Leong rma process seem smooth and fuse free as they open half a day on saturday.

We don't know what kind of motherboards there are for i7-8700K. Only after it launch, we'll know what kind of memory will be good for the platform after tech sites has benchmarked the CPU and MBs.

For 1080 Ti, since you've decided on Asus 1080 Ti Strix, then go for it. I personally would go for EVGA 1080 Ti SC2 or FTW3. I have the FTW3.

Looks, pricing, warranty. Asus is 2.5 slot card while EVGA one is 2 slots. Most 1080 Ti perform about the same. Boost 3.0 takes it to 1.9 Ghz+

It is very hard to suggest you Coffee Lake rig leh bro. It is not released yet though we have leaked benchmarks here and there and some mobo teaser. Overall, wait for the launch first then decide your MOBO choice. Also, wait for reviews so you won't become guinea pig because of rash buying.
