Looking for the above monitor.

Shortlisted Dell U2715.

Any other recommendations?

Would love to have something with thin bezel, wide viewing angle, good screen uniformity, low or no backlight bleeding and good contrast.

I am not sure about it. Does viewing angle differs from different IPS panel makes?

I don't think all IPS provides wide viewing angles.

there is IPS, e-IPS, S-IPS, H-IPS etc etc...

And each one of them have slight varying levels of viewing angles. Not to mention that the manufacturing process also affects the quality of the panels too.

All up to 178.

my inherent problem with today's monitors lie with "LED" technology in general. Ever since I was a child, I have always felt irritated I can't seem to see the dark blotches on the screen during a particularly dark scene.

Then plasma came and suddenly, it seemed that my problems were solved. Then plasma went and for all the hurrah about LEDs, my problems came back.

TS, if you are like me and want good contrast ratios, IPS will never solve your problem. The best you can possibly do is to use a VA panel or like me, pray that OLED gets cheaper.

In any case, all IPS panels (except VA) will advertise a 1000:1 static contrast. TN panels will generally give you lower statics of maybe 8-900:1.

I think that's the problem with edge-lit panel instead of back-lit with micro dimming panel.
