3.5" 2TB & 3TB internal HDD

Hi guys, currently using 7200rpm blue before the rebranding of green drives to blue. Looking to expand my storage and was looking at the blue 2TB and 3TB but looking at their model numbers, I realised that they are actually green drives with 5400. Is it any good to downgrade to 5400 rpm? Any other drives to recommend for 2TB & 3TB? TIA!

well for storage wise 5400rpm will be good to go. but do u mean u gonna replace 7200 rpm those 5400rpm drive as your main OS??? that's kinda crazy.

Running 2 SSD, I mainly use the HDD to store files only. Now already on 7200 I feel that speed is normal. Wonder how the 5400 will be like since green series has been problematic. That's partially the reason why WD rebranded them as blue to sell.

You can always go Hitachi / Toshiba 3TB 7200RPM

Only downside is they are noisy and relatively hot

get an external hdd from amazon. 5tb going for USD129 i think. I m waiting for 8tb to drop to USD179 on black friday (hoot one last year) as my current one is running out of space.

Its basically just repaste green sticks with blue sticks. As for reliability, depends on your usage. So far mine is already 2 years with no issues.

well im not sure of the issues, as some previous user have say about it that WD NAS drive (normal red drive) have issues, as proven by a few user in hwz.

last time the wd red 3tb disk got reliability issue, but that was last time. not sure now. btw wd red is 5400 rpm also what.. if want 7200rpm, go for hitachi (hgst) or toshiba.

if used for video playback, shouldn't have problem with 5400rpm. what kind of videos you store?
