Yepp. It's not the smell but the texture. Too gao already lol

that can also mean it hasnt fully dissolved in soup or it has not been fully 發泡. depending on the type & quality, the longest i had to repeat the process was 3-4 days.
there is this i have, 120g piece, these type needed to be 發泡 for 5-7 days , these are considered as 9 head size

but if it is too hassle for u, get the smaller pieces? lesser than 8g per pc. these can be 發泡. via MW each time 11 sec.

Smaller pc I steam for 10mins and soak 24-36hrs
