Dear Bros, I'm having my first Mob Manning exercise coming up in 2 weeks time since my ORD in 2003.
I was a S1 clerk with a C9L2 status when i ORDed.
I've been to the Mob Briefing and was informed i'm with the main body, not advance party or KAH.
So any idea what kind of vocation would they assign to people like me?

The unit's 3 FCSSB, which i read somewhere means Forward Combat Service Support Battalion.
What does it do? Any bros from such a unit know more about them?

I've also gotten the standard field packing list from NS.sg
9 packets, is that normal? I have some friends say normally max is 7 packets.

Looking through the list, and whatever that were issued to me by my CQMS, i have a few questions which i hope bros can help answer:
  1. My No.4s are all last gen. Do i need to get them myself from eMart or wait for Unit to issue me the new ones?
  2. Same thing with my SBO/helmet. Last gen. Need to change myself or wait for replacement?
  3. I wasn't issued with a LBV thru my NSF days. What should i do? Get one? or act blur on actual day?
  4. There's a "entrenching tool" , "range card" & "sand bags" in the list. Will these be issued or do i need to get them from eMart (i can't find them online)
  5. 1st time Mob Manning, will they be very strict on the field pack items?

Apologies for the long list of questions and if i sound noobish.
Been a NS noob for a large part of my life.

Appreciate bros for your time! :s7:

i have 7 packs i think. Depend on unit on whether they will check or not. My one never check at all.
You can use your old uniform helmet n sbo. No lbv never mind. I just mr this year wearing new uniform with old sbo also.
The tool (et stick n blade) is suppose to be given. Range card no need for mob. Get it from emart when go for ict. Sand bag is given.

1. Wait for unit to issue, just wear the old ones.
2. Most NSmen will continue to use the old sbo, depends on ur unit.
3. Use old one.
4. Range card is your problem, the rest, its your unit's problem.
5. Depends on your unit.

Just bring what u are issued on the 1st day and u will be safe. As for the no. of packets, just follow what u get from ns.sg and then see if your unit want changes. U are safe as long as you can say u got the info from ns.sg and have the items.

For me, my unit issued the new uniforms to us, use the old sbo/helmet, settle range card ourselves and not that strict on the items.

Thanks to all Bros for the replies, was away for the weekend.

@SBS2716G:
Thanks bro for the info. My other bros also say 9 packets very rare. Maybe we support armor that's why. Heng no need to change to LBV man, the bros complain it super uncomfortable.

@afbug1:
Thanks bro for the detailed answers. Of my 4 sets of old no.4, only 1 can wear.. LOL. hope they can issue before my next ICT or something if not have to waste credits liao

@laurenspang:
my manning period is fr 22nov-6dec so don't think the same as yours bro

3FCSSB is quite new i believe.

also being first mob manning, chances of activation is very high.

1. No wait for Unit to issue new Ones. You wouldnt want to be too outstanding right? Unless your uniform cannot fit.

2. SBO / Helmet no replacement. Just use the old one, as for helmet when you change uniform you will get something to put over it to make it inline with your uniform.

3. Nope we dont have such item. during our time so just tell them if they ask for it.

4. Range card u need to "make" one. (Suggestion to borrow from your friends), Rest of it only issued during ICT (need to return at end of ICT) so dont worry abt them.

5. It actually differs from unit to unit. (When i was in 9 Div (under 9 DSMB) and now 98 CSSB, our mob manning dont really check the field pack items. Those who have ok, those who didnt bring will be "reminded verbally" to bring during the next mob manning. Only activated twice so far and both times i turn up with SBO/Helmet/Empty Field Pack)

Combat Support Supply Brigade/Branch/Battalion i think

not sure dont ask me the exact terms :p

F in the FCSSB = Forward i believe.

Identical but CSSB more relaxing.

Mostly CSSB do supply & support.

Mob Activation will have to see what they say during ICT. I remember my first two ICT when i was in 9 DSMB, the 9 Div Commander came down to tell us sure activate one. So it is a confirm thing.

After that subsequent ICT, no more such stuff le so never activate le.

Anyway Silent Mob for Service/Support Units = Sign and F off.

PS: Each ICT i am also always attached here and there and everywhere so i have no idea what the F is happening during the ICT usually. Since when attached out, you dont get tasked. LOL. even Outfield i just sit there and wait for RTU only :p

oh. didnt know that. i ask nssc they also dunno. our mob letter also never indicate...so if activate, also dunno whether it is us or not. :D
They should send all newbies for mob briefing where the codeword is made known. They will also tell you which camp to report to, how to drive there or what public transport, etc. Your unit's mob warrant is sleeping and deserves to be demoted. :s8:
