Hi guys,

I'm looking to build a cpu rig with dual monitor screen with a $3k budget (Excluding keyboard, mouse and speakers) and i'm looking for some recommendations.

The rig would be mostly used for work (3d rendering softwares, photoshop painting etc) and also for high-end gaming.

Thanks!

Yes, just the main 4k one for gaming.
If that's the case, then please up your budget. $3k for rig + monitors is too little if u wanna setup a multi-purpose rig that can handle 4k gaming and heavy rendering at the same time. The cheapest 27" 4k monitors in the market + a typical 24" 1080p monitor already cost past $1k.

Well then, let's say i'd up my budget up to around 3.5k? Would that be enough?
If so, what specs would be recommended?

4k gaming without SLI 980Ti rig not feasible bah for time being. Unless down tune settings or wait for new gpu. And 4k IPS very few. Entry levels ones mostly TN though unless you don't mind.

Even you get a single GPU rig, also buaysong the fps drop drop drop like grapes or you drop the setting like grapes :s22:

2 980Ti SLI would be a good 2000, a 4k monitor at least 800 for the cheapest? PSU to support 980Ti SLI is 250 and upwards? Leaving you peanuts for others.

Sent from microwave oven using GAGT

Lets's see:

CPU+MB: Intel i7-6700k + AsRock Z170 Pro4 - $713
RAM: Kingston 2133MHz DDR4 8GB x2 (total 16GB) - $190
GPU: Palit GTX 980 Ti Super Jetstream - $999
SSD: Crucial BX100 250GB - $139
HDD: Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm - $67
PSU: Seasonic M12II 750W Semi-Modular - $139
Casing: Thermaltake Urban T31 - $99
Monitor: Dell P2715Q 27" IPS 4k monitor (3840x2160) - ~$800 (wait for COMEX to buy at such pricings)
2nd Monitor: Dell U2414H 24" 1080p monitor - ~$315 (wait for COMEX to buy at such pricings)

Estimated Total: $3461.

Prices referenced from PCThemes pricelist. U can go lower than this through bargaining, discounts earned from bargaining varies.

Note that the estimated price does not include ODD, OS (depends on whether u can get your Windows 10 free by upgrade or u prefere buying new copy of Windows 10) and depends on how much u can bargain for the Dell monitors at upcoming COMEX. I got my P2715Q at $780, so it is possible to go below $800 mark although Dell official pricing is $899 and street pricing (non-IT Show) is about $849.
