after spending 2~3k on a com.. still wanna keep changing GFX?
From the way he say, i think his friend is not a person that change com often.
oh yes I forgotten to add Palit resale value is horrible!
I'm personally a fan of MSI and ASUS![]()
2-3 years later change card Liao still sli...![]()
Hi guys,
Posting this on behalf of one of my friends. He is looking to get a new computer as an upgrade of his current computer(Does not plan to reuse parts), which is not performing very well. He does primarily gaming and a little video editting.
He says he will be willing to spend up to 3k, but if possible to be around 2k will be better. I don't think he will be overclocking.
Will require monitor,kb/mouse & os.
Let me try
i5 3750k - $295
ASUS MAXIMUS V GENE - $307
Kingston/GSKILL 8GB Value Ram - $90
Silverstone SG10 - $140
Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB - $300 SGD
ASUS GTX 780 DIRECT CUII OC - $900
Dell UltraSharp U2312HM - $250
SEASONIC X650 - $179 (might consider another psu because got compatibility issue with SG10)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - 33USD * 1.3 = $42.90
Keyboard + Mouse - $100
Total: $2513!
Some comments:
Notable Warranty - ( Seasonic X - 7 years, SSD 840 Pro - 5years, ram life time, Dell monitor 3 year 1for1 exchange
I would have pick Sabertooth Z77 but the price in SG just doesn't justify the cost... and more over once it is out of distribution, the warranty is horrible to claim.
I didn't include mechanical hard disk for big storage is because i suspect he can still re-use.. (my system still have a hitachi 250GB) =x
I didn't include OS because your friend might be a student or got cooperate connection so it can be quite cheap!
the SSD and GFX is my selling price =x a bit shameless but still trying to be within the budget !
Basically the SSD, PSU and Casing can most likely be reused for your next upgrade in 3 years time.
He alrdy say not gonna OC, for what recommend him so high end board + k series.... a i5-4570 + MSI B85M-g43 is cheaper than your choice... $602 vs $350 odd...
You really despo to sell off ur ssd and gpu sia... adding in ur sales to benefit urself....
of cos benefit myself a bit manothing is free in life..
anyway even if he doesn't overclock ROG still provide good reliability. & sound quality!
yup I do a agree the CPU can pick an lower end one
R290X is coming soon... want ask TS to hold his purchase back?
The gaming bundle that comes with it are certainly attractive... especially with BF4
Thanks for your suggestions guys, he seems fixed on getting an i7. Anyone have any recommendation of which i7 would be suitable for him?
My friend did mention to me that he will be playing bf4, you know about how long it would be before amd's new series is out?
Around oct onwards... even so, SG may not get bf4 bundle... Got small chance...

You can always take a look at things from overseas![]()
