3TB only gets 2TB

Western Digital 3tb Green
Windows 8 x64
Core2duo dfi p45 mobo
Disk mgmt shows Partition 1 as 2048gb NTFS, 746gb unallocated.
Cant create new volume for the unallocated.
How to format it in mbr?
Under diskmgmt, only format was ntfs.

if not wrong, over 2tb hard disk must Intialize Disk as GPT instead of MBR.

i think u need to use GPT instead of MBR for drives larger than 2.2TB

right click on Computer in start menu and click manage> storage>disk management. right click on your hdd and click convert to GPT

ah sorry, didn't notice u on windows 8. for that I not sure. lol
