Hi there

Can someone input your opinion or share your experience if this itinerary is feasible for Dec travel. Appreciate if you can also input the most economical way on travel expenses in terms of cost saving and time.

10th -15th Sin to SFO - on ANA
15th - 20th SFO to LAX - domestic flight
21st - 23rd LAX to SEA - domestic flight
24th - 28th SEA to YVR - amtrak train
28th - 4th Jan YVR to HNL - domestic flight
4th Jan HNL to Sin - on ANA

Reason for taking ANA as I think that is the best open jaw I can get for Sin-SFO-HNL-Sin, other than United/Delta/Eva, or anyone has a better option?

Look forward to various reply.

Thanks much!

Yeah, getting to Honolulu from Singapore is a bit tricky, but here's a secret weapon: ITA Matrix can search for open-jaw flights too!

Try searching for something like this:

* Leg 1: SIN to "SFO, LAX" (that gets you flights to either SFO or LAX)
* Leg 2: HNL to SIN

For your dates, +/- 2 days, there are some hella cheap rates on China Southern through Guangzhou (about $1500 SGD, though it's a two-stop on the way back - you have to return via either LAX or YVR), or Korean Air through Seoul (about $1800 SGD one-stop each way).

Anyway, couple of notes:

  • Seattle and Vancouver are going to be cold and miserable in December. Don't spend too long up north unless you're planning to go skiing.
  • If you're looking at Amtrak, try going from south to north: there's a train that runs from LA to San Francisco to Portland (which is worth a stop, too) to Seattle to Vancouver. That might be cheaper than stitching a bunch of flights together, and you can break your trip to spend a few days in each destination.

Thanks for the notes, though not not so into skiing, are there tobogganing park nearby Seattle and Vancouver which can be access without a rental car?

Any recommendation for YVR-SFO domestic flight? It seems only Air Canada is non stop, others will have 1 stop at SEA. How is AC compare to Delta?

Thanks
